I picked up a box of Lake City Match .308 at the gunshow yesterday.
173 grain, made in 1966.
Is this stuff corrosive?

IIRC, the US switched from corrosive primers to non-corrosive in the mid-1950's.

I don't think the US Army ever made any corrosive .308, but somebody reported finding a box of Winchester Match labeled corrosive and mercuric. Hatcher says they made that until 1960 but mentions only '06 and .300 H&H.

The change to noncorrosive was official in 1949 but it took a while for the new primers to work through the pipeline. They sure weren't going to throw primers away and were probably glad for whatever was on hand when the shooting started in Korea.
