I have a chance to pick up a NIB Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm at a very reasonable price. Having never owned a "cowboy" gun or a Ruger product, I'm looking to you folks for advice. Any comments pro or con will be very much appreciated.
I have no intention of getting into any cowboy shooting contests, I just want the gun for plinking, range work and as a house gun. Probably will never use the .357 Mag, more likely .38spl and 9mm.
Thanks again for your help.

That's a great gun at a good price. The accuracy with the 9mm cylinder may or may not be as good as you would want, but they are usually very accurate with 38/357.

Chief,
I have a .44mag and a .45Colt/.45acp in Ruger Blackhawks. Both are fine guns that continue ot serve me well. Another vote for "Get it". Quantrill

Excellent buy. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do mine...:D

I don't use the 9mm cylinder much b/c I reload & accuracy w/ the 9mm is not as good (.355 bullet in a .357 barrel). I'm thinking of having mine bored out to either a .356 GNR (.41Mag necked down to .357) or a .357/.44 Bain & Davis (.44Mag necked down to .357). Of course, that .360 DW looks good too...

Sorry to wander. You did good. Enjoy....

There are very few guns that are as satisfying as blackhawks in the magnum class or vaqueros in .45 colt. (Or bisqueros in .44 mag!)
I'll never sell my .41 mag blackhawk as long as my hands and eyes work, and the good Lord gives me breath.
Had it since '93.
Bought it used, and hot-loaded .41 mag in it since.
Shot it no small number of times.
It's still tighter than most of my guns.

If it's in good shape, jump on it. You won't regret it.
I just got a .45LC/.45ACP convertable. It is rapidly becoming my favorite gun.

I have to go along with the crowd. I have owned Ruger SAs for years and love them. You won't be disappointed.

another "get it" vote. I have one in 45 Colt, and a Super Blackhawk in 44 mag. Love them both.

I really want to thank everyone for your very much appreciated advise. This is my first single action only revo and it will take a bit of getting used to, especially with a 6.5"bbl. I do look forward to this weekends trip to the range. I have other .357 revos but I think the S/A is going to be much more fun. The others are snubbies so I look forward to sending the target to the back wall of the range to see what I can do with that long bbl. I've really gotten bored with my semi autos and look forward to the S/A as a new experience.
Thanks again to everyone.

Good luck.

Chief,
I also have a 45LC/45ACP convertible Ruger Blackhawk. I think they are an awesome gun for the money. You got a good deal there, I paid $319.00 for mine. Buy it before someone else does!
