Made a few years ago. Had a parkerized finish, synthetic stock in black or green, .30-06. Very smooth action.

Are these good rifles? Durable? Reliable?

Thanks,
Steve

absolutely, w/o a doubt. steyr rifles are peeress. i bought my first a year ago and now own an SSG that will, literally, drive nails. my next will be a true mannlicher, the steyr classic mannlicher. i just cant decide the cal.
get it and dont look back. the BBLS are unbelivable.

Pretty much the same rifle as vaunted SSG for $1000 less.:D

Thanks again,

As a long-term goal, I want to get one of these in 8x57JS. As far as I know, nobody imports them, though. Have any of you found a source?

I worked in a store that sold probably ten of these over the two years I worked there ('88-'90). No customer ever had a problem with the mags. Man, in .30-06 . . . that's a sweet rifle. I love the way the barrel swirls as it protrudes from the action.

What is the action like compared to a Win 70, Rem 700, etc.?

Thanks,
Steve
