I'm in the market for a spotting scope. I don't think I want to spend $600 on a Kowa. So, how is this?

Citadel: Go here http://www.snipercountry.com/InReviews/SpottingScopes.asp for a good review of several spotting scopes. I bought the Bushnell based on their recommendation and it is a great spotter!

www.bhphotovideo.com has the Bushnell spacemaster for better prices than that link shows. They have the 15-45x spacemaster for $139.95 (according to the description this one's collapsible and the objective is 50mm instead of 60mm). They have the 20-45x that I think is the same one in that review with the 60mm objective for $299. I've had great service ordering from them before.

DigMe: The scope reviewed on Sniper Country is the straight view Spacemaster which is around $300.00 anywhere. The cheaper Spacemaster is not in the same league quality-wise. Natchez has the 10-45X Spacemaster with tabletop tripod and backpack carrying case (both nice accessories) for $290.00, a good deal.

The Bushnell Spacemaster rubber armored 60mm was the best I saw in the price range when I was shopping for a spotting scope. But I bought a Kowa 60mm and do not regret the extra money. A 50mm is a pistol range scope not in the same league as 60mm (or larger if you can afford it.)
I ordered and sent back a Burris Wind River, that was a dull dim disappointment.

I've got a Tasco 15-45X that I bought 20 or so years ago for about 40 bucks. I'ts all I ever needed, but then it's been a few years and my eyes aren't quite as good as they used to be, so now we'll see.

I think I'll pick up that Bushnell. Thanks for the input guys. Just think, I should be able to use it when I get back next December. By the time I get home I'll have all sorts of new shooting toys waiting on me!

Jim Watson was incorrect saying Burris wind river was a bad scope. Leupold makes the wind river scope and he is right, the wind river is a piece of junk. I bought one and took it right back. The Nikon earth and sky scopes a great. Thats what I now use. you can pick one up for about $250.

kestrelhawk,
I erred, you are right the Wind River is sold by Leupold.
But, the piece of junk I had was a Burris, the low roller Landmark bought on sale from Midway and not worth the price.
