Any one know what the standard issue handgun was for the Secret Service in the mid 1990’s?

Thanks for any information you all can provide.

I have a slight idea.

Sig 228 9mm before it was bumped up to .357 sig.

Carry ammo was +p+.

Do a google search and you'll find out more. This one is just my baby that I've been carrying lately.

I think most big agencies carry Sigs.

Yes, SIG P-228, Federal 9BPLE 9mm 115 grain +P+ ammo.

Now, SIG P-229 in .357 SIG, don't know what ammo, suspect Speer Gold Dot or Winchester Ranger T.

All sorts of long guns, not just UZIs.

Now I know why I gotta P228; :D cuz the fed's had one! :)

No, thats not really the reason. I had always wanted a SIG P228
cuz of the caliber and the American style grip angle. The P225
and P226 just didn't do it for me. :( OTOH, the P228 fits much
like my beloved .45 caliber SIG P220A.

I went to school with some agents back in 1999-2000 (I forget).
They had P229 in 357 Sig and they said they used Speer Gold Dots (125gr I think).
Not sure when they changed over but it was few years by then they told me.
