I have an opportunity to buy this pistol from the brother of the original owner. The serial number shows mfg. 1945 and the invoice where the original owner bought it from the Navy matches the serial number on the gun. It comes with a period correct holster that has "Brauer 44" stenciled on the back, a web belt, and mag pouch, all of which appear to be correct.

The gun looks to be original and correct with little finish wear and doesn't look like it was shot much.

What would you say is a fair offer?

With the accessories and paperwork ...

Around $1,800 to $2,000

But that just for this week ... :what:

Seriously, it is the package that will make it especially valuable.

Evaluating GI 1911's can be a somewhat specialized exercise. Great amount of knowledge and experience here: http://forums.1911forum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=30
This is the USGI portion of the 1911 forum. Good luck

Sorry I don't have the capability to provide pictures. The finish overall is excellent, a few scratches here and there but that is all. The correct grips are on it. I've done some Internet studying about this particular brand of 1911A1 and everything is correct, i.e. inspection punch marks and placement, serrations or not on the controls, that kind of thing. I spent an hour taking notes while handling it and then was up 'til midnight going over the details and found no discrepancies. I went back today and gave another look and then came home to get advise from gun forum participants.

Before you guys blow a gasket, it was a mixed parts guns and a beater. Dad thinks the recoil spring was weak and the gun was cycling too hard. I dunno.
