Any opinions on the Bereta 87 Cheetah. Looking for a compact, reliable, and accurate camp/trail .22 pistol. Thanks.

I've seen a couple and only fired one. They seem nice. But for camp duty, I'd go w/ the Ruger. They just seem a little more rugged.

probably want something lighter for trail/camp than a ruger or buckmark.
Beretta 87 (1.25 pounds) great but expensive ~$500
Walther P22 (1.05 pounds) is more in my price range at least ~$250

I have the 87 extended barrel version (its about 2 inches longer). Cool looking. Accurate and very reliable....except when using cheapo remington bricks. 100% reliable with mini-mags and stingers. Haven't used any other 22 ammo otherwise (looking for recommendations....its in another thread).

I have a standard 22lr Beretta 87 cheetah. it looks like a mini 92fs, but has a frame mounted safety.
I think it's a greaty pistol, and would be well-suited for the trail. it's very accurate, very rugged, and easy to disassemble and clean. I rarely clean the gun, and it still works great. i usually just wipe the exterior of the gun down with a cloth after shooting it a lot.
I agree with Tman. It's been ultra reliable with CCI Minimags and Stingers. I'd recommend high velocity 22lr loads since it's a blowback type of pistol. I use cheapo Remington and Winchester ammo at the range and it works well, but i get an occasional dud (due to the fact it's cheapo ammo).
It's a pricey gun, but a lot more solid feeling than the P22's I've handled at the stores.
