Came back from the local gunshop with some samples of the new Hoppe's Elite Cleaner and Oil.
I read the specs on it and sure sounds good, being nontoxic and biodegradable.
Kinda spendy though.

Anyone tried this stuff?

The Hoppe's Elite products are actually "MPro7" products with Hoppe's name. They are made at the same factory-- Pantheon Chemicals. "MPro7" is Pantheon's house brand. You can get oil, cleaner and "Field Cleaner". The field cleaner is their version of CLP. Unlike Breakfree, it doesn't need to be shaken before use.

Hoppes Elite-- or MPro7 Gun Cleaner (not the Field Cleaner)-- is the only dedicated cleaner I use. Period. I've never gone back since I discovered the stuff. It's pricey, but a little bit goes a lot farther. It won't require as many patches and (although they don't publicize this enough) it doesn't eat your brass brushes. You'll save money in the long run.

I use Breakfree (it's good enough) for the routine cleaning and lubrication. I save the Good Stuff for after I've actually shot my guns. Check out MPro7's website at MPro7.com.

I use this fine product as my main cleaning product now. It cleans barrels cleaner than anything I have tried before. It will even take most of the burn marks from the front of the cylinder on a revolver. and the more you use it the easier the cleanings become. I like it a lot! It is a little pricey, but it does seem to do the job and it does the job with just a little going a long way. Until I find some thing better this is what I'll use. :)

I love the Hoppe's. After many years of marriage and getting to know each other my wife has it all figured out. A little dab behind each ear and a "spritz" around the neck........

I used a free sample of the Hoppes Elite cleaner on my G-17 after 5-600 rounds. It did a real nice job. I like the way it "soaps up" a little.

Thanks guys, the testimonials helped.

I'm gonna pick up some of the "bore gel". It sounds like that would be good for soaking a fouled barrel.

I've been using a lewis lead remover for when I get leaded up but it sounds like the Hoppe's elite cleaner will reduce my need for that.

Yep, found that out the hard way by ordering one of each to compare (by mail) -- found they were the same! No problem, because I have also found the gel works extremely well on barrels.

I have used the bore gel only once, but it did seem to work better than many other bore cleaners I have tried. As the weather begins to warm, I hope to get a chance to really try out the bore gel.

I have used the Hoppe's Elite cleaner which is "MPro7" mass marketed by Hoppes. Its the same great stuff as MPro7, except its available all over now thanks to the wide distribution of the Hoppes brand. It cleans better then most of us will ever need, and is just one more great product in the Hoppes cleaning line. Bore snake anyone?

How effective is it on leading? Blue wonder seems to do a pretty good job as well, anyone care to compare the two if you have used both?

Thanks
