Anyone had a Handgun or barrel cryogenicly treated and did it work.

Never done it to a pistol, but........

I believe this is something that is suitable more along the lines of a rifle. Toughens it up and relieves stress for more accuracy, supposedly. I'm not sure what advantages you'd hope to see in a pistol; it may not be worth the time, money, and effort.

And....to top it all off - the jurie's still out on this one; some people will say cryoing is the best thing out there, and others say it's a waste of money and won't do a darned thing.

Most of what you hear about cryo is nonsense .It certainly doesn't 'relieve stresses' !!Nor does it toughen the steel. It has certain application in tool steels and heat treatable stainless steels but not for the typical gun steels. My forum name Mete stands for metallurgical engineer !

I had it done to a CZ Barrel of mine on a Custom I built. The gun shot well enough before it was done..I couldnt tell a difference. But I got a deal on the process and couldnt turn it down.........
Shoot well.........

All cryo-treating really does is turn the somethingorotherite in the steel into goodstuffite (can't remember what they're called... martensite and austenite? Something?), which heat treating and tempering also do. So cryo-treating is unnecessary as long as the heat treat and temper are up to par, since a decent job on those will have already transformed all the somethingorotherite into goodstuffite.

Cryo is a fantastic way to separate your money from your wallet.
