Are there going to be potential problems if this is done?
Thank

D'ye see any benchrest rifles with that set-up? :scrutiny:
I guess it depends on what parameters you define "precision" with. :D
My guess would be, best case, group sizes would not enlarge from removal/reinstallation of the scope, but you'd almost certainly need to adjust for point of impact. My partner tried a similar set-up, POI moved 1/4" each time. That was acceptable to him, not to me...
Try it, you may love it...

I have ARMS #22M's on my SPR. They work great......very little if any noticable shift in zero in my experience.

I use an ARMS #5 mount on a Colt flat-top. The scope and base are regularly swapped out for the carry handle and iron sights each year as it gets closer to my mandatory M16 qualifications. ;)
No, they don't use detachable rings or bases on benchrest rigs. But I don't see many benchresters shooting 3-gun or SWAT/sniper drills, either. That's probably outside their comfort zone. Nor do they wanna scratch their Stolle/Kelbly/Nesika/Lee Six artwork. ;)

I recommend the Larue mounts over the ARMS mounts.

My intent was to avoid having to buy a new set of rings. I don't like the idea of the standard Leupolds because they don't go on a Weaver rail(I can't mount the scope on something else for a while with the twist in set up) Mark 4 mounts are the obvious solution, but they are expensive. It would bother me if my zero was off 1/4 of inch, so I better looking for something else. What is the ideal ring height for a Rem 700 308?
Thanks, and any addition opinions are also appreciated.

One piece mounts are a bit better, but mounting them can be difficult on some rifles.

Good timing Stinkyshoe. I'm thinking of getting some of the ARMS or Larue detach mounts for the LRB M25 I'm about to order. I'm curious if Larue is worth the $70 higher price tag. Sometimes I figure I just oughta get some regular rings. Any more input from you guys is appreciated!

For a precision rifle using one optic only, I really recommend using a good set of normal rings and never removing the optic from the rifle.
If you want to use multiple optics on the same rifle, or want to switch the same optic between rifles, the LaRue QD rings will work much better than the ARMS ones. The LaRue QD levers have adjustable tension, so they can be tailored for just the right tension on the specific rifle, and it will never get loose. The ARMS has that "anti-mar pad" which eventually compressed and loosens up the mount. If you use an ARMS mount on a "over spec" rail and then try to put it on a middle-spec or under-spec rail, it will be loose and just won't work.
The LaRue rings return to zero very well when removed and replaced, also.
