These are some interesting pistols at even more interesting prices? What are your thoughts on them? Would you consider one of these over say a Mak? Any additional thoughts on them? Anyone own one of these? They kind of remind me of the Taurus .45 PT145.

NO!

If you feel compelled to get a little plastic .45 at least get a PT145 Pro. It'll at least fire a full magazine without jamming. It's comparing rotten apples and nectarines. The Mak is a significant step up from Cobra, the Heir of Raven.

What, you need a throwdown or something?
I'd feel better with a brick on a lanyard, myself.

Put it out of your mind. This is not the pistol you're looking for. Move along.

Rabbit.

"What, you need a throwdown or something?"

Don't even joke like that....I know I don't.

Anyways....nope, just thinking about a BUG that doesn't cost much....money that could be spent on Sigs....Sig doesn't make anything BUG quality. I tried the 232...and have scars from my efforts. Maybe an XD Sub .40...but thats a SA and probably a no-no.

I have no experience with them, but I seem to remember a discussion of them quite a while back on TFL and the consensus was that the Cobra Patriots suck, but the ones made by Republic are okay (Cobra either bought out Republic a couple of years ago, or Republic changed their name ... I'm not clear on which it is).

You might go over there and do a search to find the thread I'm talking about.

the patriot 45 is supposed to be okay. rest of the stuff they sell junk. IIRC 1911 mags can work in them. grip setup for 6rnd mags which are slightly shorter than 7rnd. think they use promag magazines for factory mags. could be source of mag problems.

company used to be Davis Industries I guess, bought up talon industires, republic arms equipment move it.

the infamous CLARK supposedly has one and shoots some ++HOT++ 45 ammo through with heavy springs. IIRC 460 rowlands type HOT

bout the size of kel-tec p11, uses polymer frame rails but so do other firearms like HS2000/Springfield XD,Ruger P95,P97 maybe P345 to name a few.

its a simple design no slide hold open on last round. trigger is supposed to be a Heavy DAO which alone will cause many to complain or whine.

I dont have one but may pick on up myself. resale value will stink if you have to ditch it. though have heard the company makes good on lifetime warranty.

Aw, Boorow, I know ya better than that. I gots too much respect for you and the job you do to insinuate anything like that except in jest over the campfire.

Really, if you want a cheap BUG look for something else.

Rabbit.

Done. Considering a Mak or possibly a snubby .357 Brutal to shoot, brutal to be shot with. ;)

For only a little more money get the Taurus PT145 much better gun for not much more money with 10+1 capacity and about the same size overall. PT145 has a much better than decent trigger. Patriot trigger, very heavy, good luck shooting accurately!

I've got a pair of PT111's that I'd be happy to let you try at the range some time. It's not as smooth as the Pro model, but it'll give you a general feel for it, and they can be found pretty reasonably priced.

Isn't Kahr Arms supposed to be coming out with a little 17oz. .45?

Rabbit...I owned a Pt111 that I actually liked....a friend of mine REALLY needed a gun so I let him have it for a song....anyways...the thing I didn't like is that it wouldn't feed anything bigger than 125gr.... I noticed Taurus recently came out with a Millenium Pro Single stack .45................Now that might be interesting.
