Teen uninjured after being hit with bullet
By Deanne Lowenstein/News-Sentinel Staff Writer
A 14-year-old boy was not injured when he was struck in the head by a stray bullet in his Lodi home early Saturday.
Two Lodi police officers were patrolling near the 400 block of Eden Street when they heard gunfire at 12:22 a.m., police said.
Several houses were shot into in what Lodi police Lt. Chet Somera referred to as a "walk-by."
The teen was sleeping in one of the houses and found a bullet casing on his pillow. Later he complained of a lump on his head.
"The bullet used all of its energy going through the wall. It didn't have enough energy to penetrate or do much more damage (other) than leaving a lump on his head," Somera said.
Another man was sitting in a chair in his house when a bullet narrowly missed his head, hitting the wall beside him, Somera said.
Some children were asleep in bunk beds in another house and bullets just missed them, also hitting the wall.
As of Sunday, police had no suspects, Somera said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lodi Police Department at 333-6727, or anonymous calls may be made to Lodi-Area Crime Stoppers at 333-6771.
