Well, I guess I just like battle rifles...

OK, I've been on a bit of a binge lately (well, for the last 3 years) buying rifles. I wasn't really into rifles....I have a bunch of handguns and several shotguns. My rifles were limited to a couple of 22's and 2 bolty hunting rifles.

Suddenly the idea of being able to command the area around me as far as I can see became really appealing. So my quest to become a rifleman began. I really didn't have any rhyme or reason on how I bought...just what I liked. I like history and I've been buying surplus when they come up and I can afford it. In addition, I've picked up some lever actions and falling blocks.

I started inventorying them to track values for insurance and realized that over 60% of the rifles I own are battle rifles. I lined them up tonight to see what I had. Nice downward sloping line on lengths but not as much as I might have thought.

They are, in order, left to right

1864 E Robinson contract rifle
1873 Springfield Trapdoor
Mle1898/27 Mannlicher-Berthier
Mosin Nagant 91/30
Springfield (Remington) 03A3
Swiss K31
Faz No 4 Mk1/2 Enfield
SA Garand
M-N M44
Yugo 59/66A1 SKS
SA M1A Loaded
DPMS M4-gery

IMHO, to round it out, you need a flintlock Brown Bess or the American equivalent. Then of course there's always the #1 Enfield, the original old Smelly, and I don't see an M2 carbine, and, and, and, ... Does it ever stop?

I'll say it again: NICE array!

Looks like you've gotten the bases covered!

A question if I may?

If the need for commanding the area arrives, which one are you going to pick?

Obviously the M1A.

Smokey Joe --

Don't forget a Krag, a few Mausers (96, 96, M48), an AK, a G43, a Carcano, a G3, and Ariska and...oh, crap, I thought I was done for a while. Must...resist...rifle...buying

41 mag -- if I really want to command an area, I'll call in an AC-130A

You're an inspiration to us all.

Must resist urge to buy more rifles...nope, no good. I can't resist. Simply must buy more.

That's disgusting...

There simply aren't enough Garands in that picture. You need at least *3* in order to use the stacking swivels.

Sure, I know some of the others have them also, but it just ain't the same thing... :)

PS: Fabulous collection!
PPS: You also need an M1 Carbine.

I'm kind of a fan of the A-10 "Warthog", but if all I got is the AC-130, oh, well one must make do with what one has.....

Great photos though, of both the plane & the collection of iamkris.

An enviable collection. But there isn't enough evil there. Go forth and purchase a CETME/PTR-91/HK-91/Bushmaster Dissipator/AK-47.

you need a mauser, maybe two. something in 8mm, and another in 6.5; but other than that, i'm seething with jealousy.

Hay iamkris, I LOVE the C130! I have displayed in my living room a 105 howitzer round (brass only) from the special ops squadron and engraved with the logo of the special ops squadron (the spectre-aka ghost) and under it is engraved "Fired over Iraq in support of operation Iraqi Freedom".

Sorry, I can't do pictures.

I can sympathize with you completely. I've been building quite the battle rifle collection myself. So far, I 've amassed:
SA Garand
Polytech M14s
Romanian SKS
Enfield No4 Mk1
Carcano 38
Arisaka Type 99
Finn M-39
VolArms Commando Thompson clone
