When was my S&W model 18 made?

Just got a nice, near new S&W model 18-4. It's in .22 rimfire, with a 4 inch barrel, and adjustable sights. Barrel is pinned, and the chambers recessed.

The serial number is 89K68XX

Can someone tell me the year the gun was made?

Your S&W Model 18-4 was made in 1980! The model 18, is a very nice revolver! In fact, I just bought an model 18-3, made in 1971!
