Hi fellas, I'm trying to put together my first FAL build and I am in the process of getting parts. I do not want to get a parts kit and I am currently buying individual parts from DSA. I have compiled a list of parts so far, could you guys help me make sure I have listed all the parts I need. (I know I’m missing a lot).

FAL/SA58 Para Complete Front End with 18'' bipod-cut military grade barrel, U.S. made

Steyr Short Flashider, new design

Extended Selector Switch, U.S. Made, semi-auto, fits metric lowers only

Complete Lightweight Lower Receiver with imported internals

7075T6 Lightweight Alloy Cocking Handle Complete Assembly, U.S. Made

Upper reciver (please help me pick one)

Thanks
Zach

For FAL questions you'll get a lot of info over at www.falfiles.com

They've got a pretty active "marketplace" forum where a lot of spare FAL parts get sold.

Have fun!

I think I would go with one of the forged recievers if possible. This means DSA or Imbel (Not sure if the Imbels are currently available.) I built on cast Coonan Recievers and have had no problems with them at all, but the forged Imbel weren't any more expensive at the time.

As for Type, I wouldn't worry too much, the only real concern is with carry handle cut or without. Theoretically, the non carry handle reciever will be a little stiffer, and a little more accurate, but also a little heavier. Who knows if this really has a measurable effect.

I think that your list is complete, though I don't know exactly what comes in those package deals. The only thing to look out for is US compliance parts. This can be a little tricky, because they can't just be any parts, check FALfiles for the list of which ones count.

If you buy everything thru DSA its going to cost a arm and a leg. Get a parts kit for extras, and experimention.

Imbel amd DSA uppers are best.

I'd say shop around on the FAL Files marketplace, try Tapco (http://www.tapco.com/) or GunThings (http://www.gunthings.com/).

I've found good deals at all three.

DSA makes very good quality stuff, but they are a little "too proud" of their products.

I believe Centerfire (http://www.centerfiresystems.com/) has STG58 kits.
