Heavy-Metal Shotgun

I have noticed that International Multi Gun Association's Heavy Metal Category has a maximum barrel length of 22", and maximum tube length 23". Some clubs shoot rules other than UPSA/IPSC, so I thought I would make my USPSA Standard Division/IPSC Standard Manual Division shotgun conform to some of these other match rules that put pump shotguns in their own category. It appears that the shotgun of choice is the Remington 870 12 guage with 21" barrel.

I'm planning on buying the Dave's Metal Works 8-shell capacity tube extension from Shooters Connection (See Favorite Links on Schennberg.com (http://www.schennberg.com)). The DMW extension should give total tube length around 22.5" and should be about 1.5" longer than the 21" barrel, or about half an inch longer than the 21" barrel with extended choke tube.

Does anyone on this forum have any actual experience with a Remington 870 and the Dave's Metal Works tube extension that gives 8-shell capacity?
How long is the tube, and how far does it stick out beyond the 21" barrel (or vice-versa for longer barrels)?
Thank you,
Richard

Please forgive my ignorance, but I've never heard of a "heavy-metal" category in any shooting sport. Can you provide more details, or a link to a Web site containing them?

The International Multi Gun Association does not have its own web site, but matches that use their rules often post them. For instance, http://www.trm3g.homestead.com/untitled1.html has the version of the rules where the term "He-Man" means "Heavy Metal" category restricted to pump shotguns only. In summary, "Heavy Metal" requires no optics, a handgun of minimum caliber .44, a rifle of minimum caliber .308, and a 12 guage shotgun with barrel up to 22" and magazine tube no more than one inch longer than the barrel.
