What ammo works best in your Colt 1991A1?

Well, I have put about 500 rounds through my new Colt 1991A1 (new roll mark), so it is time for a new case. The first 500 was 230g fmj S&B which hit the bottom of a paper plate off a bench rest @ 25 yds (aiming at the center of the plate).

So what kind of luck have you had with various ammo in your new Colts? I know it varies from gun to gun, but curious as to what people have to say.

Thanks

My '91a1 was quite happy no matter what I fed it...my reloads, factory FMJ's & Hydra Shoks all worked well.

I've had 1911's feed everything I put in them without a hitch, and I've had them not feed hardball. I guess you just have to try each type of ammo you want to shoot and see what happens. I usually spend $40 and have a "throat and polish" job done on my pistols, its money well spent as they feed pretty much anything afterwards. My smith calls it a reliability package and does a few other things at the same time like tune the extractor and polish some other things up. I usually get rid of the crappy plastic parts on the Colts at this point too. Why they use them is beyond me, I'm sure its a bean counter thing, but I cant stand them and get steel replacements.

M1991A1 feeds everything also. Ball, 225 LFP reloads, 215 LSWC reloads, 185 LSWCBB reloads, 200 LSWC reloads, 230 Ranger SXT, 230 WW USA JHP, 230 Corbon BHP +P. Wilson 7rd mags, though.

I have owned several 1911s and have generally had very good luck with them feeding and ejecting properly.

Generally, if a 1911 feeds ball ammo, 230 Gr Golden Sabers and 200 Gr Gold Dots, I'm satisfied and all mine have done so. Had a problem 1991 a while back, but other than that... I've had positive experiences with 1911s.

Guns can be finicky, 1911 are very much so IMHO.
What your gun likes, others may not, so you get to shoot up a bunch of ammo to figure that out. ;) Have fun doing it. :D

My Colt 1991A1 has yet to choke on anything I feed it. S&B, Winchester, Alabama Ammo, CCI Blazer(which I hate), PMC etc.
