Israeli settlers market action_packed holiday to US thrill_seekers
DATELINE: JERUSALEM, March 5

Forget seafront hotels and golf courses, join the intifada: after
months of violence sunk Israeli tourism, two Jewish settlers have decided to use
the conflict with the Palestinians as a marketing tool to attract a new
breed of holiday_makers.

Patrolling flashpoint settlements at night, firing assault rifles and
trying on explosives belts may not be everybody's dream holiday, but some
people are paying 5,500 dollars for a crash course in "fighting against terrorism".

"I was in New York on September 11, and I realised that people did not
know how to react to terror," said Jay Greenblad, a resident of the
settlement bloc of Gush Etzion in the occupied West Bank and co_organiser of the unusual holiday package.

"In Israel, we are experts at dealing with terrorism and this is an
opportunity for Americans who want to see Israel in a different way and
become ambassadors of the war on terror," he told AFP Wednesday as Israel faced a new suicide bombing in the northern port of Haifa, which killed at least 15 people.

Greenblad explained the five_day package will include some "wild
experiences" such as "learning hand_to_hand combat techniques ... firing M_16s, Kalashnikovs and Uzis ... discovering what it feels like to wear a suicide bomber's belt."

The batch of 25 who have already signed up for the first week due to
start on May 4 will also receive first aid training, fly across the Negev desert
in a military chopper, take part in paintball simulations of military
commando operations, meet victims of Palestinian attacks and attend talks by army officers.

The US_born Greenbald said that in the first group were a lawyer, a judge and
doctors. "It's a great way to bring the two countries together to fight
the common enemy of terrorism.

"We had to weed out the potential crazies, since we are going to be
handling live ammunition. They are not going to get an opportunity to shoot
Arabs," he said.

Can't we do that at Thunder Ranch and Gunsite, minus the 'explosive belts'?

I recently saw a news report on an Israeli doctor who was setting up a program where Israeli doctors could come to the US & pass on some of their experience w/ injuries on terror victims, since they have become experts in treating them. Israeli ER docs have developed some serious skills to deal w/ victims of terror (specifically bombing victims).
Hope we never need them ;)

Skunk! You are showing your "true" colors you discriminating @!#*)(*#!! What have you got against people with exploding belts??? :D J/K

When they say "a commando weekend" they really understand it...

I'm sure one of the common questions is "Do you know what it feels like to wear a suicide belt? Do you want to?"
