after reading the neck knife thread, i thought i would post a related topic. what do you guys think of these knives - http://www.hideawayknife.com/main.php
there's an article on them in the current issue of am. handgunner. they look good to me and i was thinking of getting one. there seems to be a ton of ways to carry them.
overall impressions? any one have one? are there any legal issues i should be aware of?

'Frontsight' who makes HAK's makes a damn fine knife that is practical and easy to carry. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a small carry knife.

I have handled several versions and can honestly say they are all great designs but I am partial to the Claw and Straight versions in S30V. Titanium is nice but not really necessary. If you can find one, I like the collaboration knife of Mickey Yurco claw. Regarding carry recommendations, I am not a big fan of around the neck carry or bra carry (not that I wear a bra  ) aka as any type of carry method that would take a long time to bring into action. To me the best system for a HAK is the Rip cord carry method. The good thing about the Rip cord system is that you can use it on all sorts of knives and are not limited to just the HAK.
Hope this helps you. Frontsight is a great person and if you have any questions email FS.

Mine came last week (a Brock Ti straight). I have a neck chain, but I find I'm using it more with the rip cord doohicky that connects the sheath to your pocket so that you can pocket-draw easily. Lee Aldridge of Reality Based Fighting Concepts (RBFC at the self-defense forums and Glock Talk) is big on the sheath stick pins, recommending using the HAK as a secondary blade somewhere on one's upper torso for use in the event that the waistline primary weapons become inaccessible. Makes sense.
The HAK itself is a pretty darn good design. I told FS that it gives me as good control and cutting power as a puuko, but I also have the ability to do other things with the hand and never put the knife down. It's also darn hard to take away from me.
Personally, I'm not as bowled over by the price as some folks are (people carry on about what a steal this is for a custom knife, but I buy custom knives for less pretty frequently), but I think the HAK concept is absolutely brilliant and worth every penny. And the customer service is absolutely first rate.
I'm reluctant to say "the Hideaway Knife is indespensible," when I've only had it for a week, but I can't really think of a better word. It's one of those things that, once you learn it exists, the concept gnaws on you until you have one. I can't see being without one now.
