anyone watch tonight? I'm addicted to that show like its meth!!
excellent "tactical" moment in the show tonight.
SPOILER BELOW FOR THOSE THAT TIVO'D the JBPH and are going to watch it tommorrow.
when jack was cornered in the shop with the two owner guys. M1 Garand present, along with some shotties and either a mini-14 or mini-30, with a crappy red dot sight. best part was when Jack instructed the guy on "strobing" the baddie and then the guy actually did it effectively!! awesome moment. only surpassed by Jack knifing "mercenary tough guy" in the back of the neck like the ninja that Jack is!!
needless to say, I loves me some JBPH!!

I was wondering if someone was going to post something about this.
I love this show and I am also addicted to it.
Just out of curiousity, what does JBPH stand for?

Jack Bower Power Hour?
Just a guess...I've only watched the show twice, but I like his choice of sidearm.

yep, Jack Bauer Power Hour
:D
I thought tonights show was pretty realistic as far as the types of guns that would be found at just about any regular old sporting goods store. and of course the CTU tactical guys show up twenty minutes late :scrutiny: methinks they should just fire the rest of the field agents at CTU except for Jack, and Tony as his backup. ;)

Another loyal fan here, storyline for tonight's hour was reasonable.
As mentioned before, available guns were realistic. Two civilians guarding their store against looters after SHTF was pretty good.
You're right about CTU. Turn Jack and Tony loose and we'd have Bin Laden by breakfast. :D

I second bringing back Kim..my wife HATED her and her story line.....I LOVED her tank top though......Someone said the old president may be coming back too......I don't trust the new pres....
Gun wise the show could be a little more accurate...safeties on Glocks, the clicking sound when it's not needed.....but it is better than some shows,at least they reload.
the show does get the adrenal glands pumping though...

Yeah, I miss Cloe, too, she's cool.
Can any of you gun shop owners/workers relate to the 2 brothers in last nights episode?

Minor whine ... I know it's just television ... but I can't stand seeing characters who are supposed to be professionals using the "teacup and saucer" (off hand underneath, supporting gun butt) handgun grip used ... (although it is an enjoyable show).

I had to write that one down.
Fun show, though.

Load your vest with empty clips.

I submit that the Mini-14 and m1 Garand are way better than any tacticaled out AR-15. Jack and 3 civies were able to hold off 10+ mercenary goons with only a trusty mini-14 and Garand. The ARs were FA as well. Wow, the mini and garand are soo much better, at least they got the firearms right, you can pretty much only get a mini and garand in cali.
I laughed when Jack took that initial shot at the head merc and the bullet just missed the mercs head. If that had been my mini, jack would've aimed at his head and hit the guy in the leg.
24 is one of the few shows I actually set aside time to watch (the other being Battlestar Galactic). Good story lines. Just when you thought it was all about Islam, they turn the story so that there seems to be something else going on.

Watch MI-5 on A & E if you want a super gritty spy show.
I found some of the show unrealistic- oh, Well! With all the crap going on a big old heliocopter just wanders into their airspace as a surprise? No fighters. Previously in the show they had helio gun ships and fighters on call.
Got to like to old civilian gun shop saving the day. Too bad, Diane was there to reload mags for them.

I do agree with Tyme, though. Chloe was a really good and believable character. I can't believe they took her off.

I can understand why they said clips instead of magazines though. Think who is watching the show. If he says magazines, people are going to ask how an issue of Field and Stream is going to stop a bullet.

The shot was meant to hit near the head- the guy gets on the radio, thereby giving up the position.

Fed,
The issue is where Jack was aiming. But the accuracy of the mini-14.
Here is an example. If a team of crack commandos who were able to escape from a maximum security stockade into the Los Angeles underground and work as soldier of fortune have trouble hitting what they are aiming at with Mini-14 (the soldiers chasing them really need to learn to shoot also)
how can it we be expected to believe that Jack off the shelf mini-14 is going to perform that well?

I am hooked on it. I'm thinking of buying the first, is it two, seasons to catch up on who and what went on before. The wife heads to another TV to watch some crappy reality show when 24 comes on.

Too bad the 5.56 round would have burned right through the "empty clip" in the guys vest pockets. Hell it would have burned through a couple full loaded mags... The "Box o' Truth" on AR15 recently proved that loaded mags don't even really slow down a 5.56 or 7.62x39 round... Maybe at a decent angle it would defect a round some though...

The current season is four, so you would have three seasons to go through before you catch up.
Season One - Plot on, then candidate Palmer's, life
Season Two - Terrorists have a "dirty bomb"
Season Three - Terrorists have a deadly virus

I would not recommend doing this.
After you watch the first episode you will be compelled to watch another...and another, and another. Before you know, it is 3AM and you have started planning how you might be able to get out of going to work that day so you can start in on the next disk.
Oh, and seasons 1, 2 and 3 are all available on DVD!!!

If you just started in Season Four, then you MUST watch Season one, right now.
Season one is still by far the best, and it had the best surprises, although every season is full of them.
Who can forget the last episode of Season One, of who the mole actually turned out to be, and what was lost....

I haven't missed an episode since the show's inception. Look forward to it every week. I'll probably buy them all eventually. It's time to watch the first seasons all over again. ;)
