Murphy said Tawni Baldwin had a gun in her purse, but it was not the murder weapon. Murphy said he's not sure why she was carrying the weapon, but it was legally registered.

A 9 mm pistol was used in the shooting, a gun that had been stolen in the Arlington area, Murphy said. He said there's no indication that Ryan Baldwin was the one who stole it.

An article like this just seems to give the anti crowd more ammunition.

They could pose statements such as, "Well, she had a legal gun, but it did not help her". or, "The gun in her purse could have easily been taken and used against her or stolen and used in another crime".

The murder weapon was a stolen gun. (better than a legally owned one though)

Also, I did not think that Washington has "registration" (refering to one of the above quotes). Can anyone answer that?

There is a common misconception by those that are not in the know that ALL guns must be "registered", EVERYWHERE.

They sure could, but that's like saying that seatbelts are useless because they don't save everyone that is involved in a crash.

Far more armed LEOs are killed with their own weapon than are CCW holders.

Washington does not require registration of guns or gun owners. It probably means the piece was bought legally by the woman who had it.

According to court records, Ryan Baldwin has a record of domestic violence incidents, including cases where three women -- none of them Tawni Baldwin -- filed protection orders against him.

He should have shot himself first to make sure the gun was working properly.

will happen and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it once a person has made up their mind. This is a fact. There will never be a law written to stop these acts. This is a very disconcerting reality that many people cannot accept. This is one reason why the anti's want tougher gun laws. They delude themselves by reasoning that fewer guns will prevent such tradigies. The anti fears reality ...

Lets all take a page out of the DNC handbook here and do what they do when a Dem. office holder makes a racist or hate statement.

Ignore it.

Also, somewhere in the US last year a LEO officer used his or her service waepon to kill or wound somebody illegally. Yep. Mayby a murder suicide.

Could have happened more than once.

Shall we disarm the Police?
