Just a quick update:

Just got of the phone with Sen. Duran's office.
HB641 has not yet been assigned to comittee.
Contact your Senator, urge them to find where 641 is, get it on the floor for a vote and vote for it. Call until you get a comittment, and if we have negatives Let us know here ASAP so we can drum up a bit of action to overcome the opposition.

According to NRA implementation begins in June.
Lets all be ready to attend a few hearings that are sure to be held concerning that. All in all I thing we pregresses this year.

Now the increment for next year.
Allow carry into places that sell alcohol for off site consumption and resturants that sell. Of course the no alcohol while carrying needs to stay.

Now is the time to start planning what we want the next legislature to do for us. A decent plan, well thought out and presented to the legislators well before the next session.

Wow!

I thought this would get buried deeply enough that there would be no time to vote on it.

Mr Richardson has been fairly decent to gun owners since becoming governor.
Can't say as I cared for his work when in the House or as appointee for Clinton. He is politically astute and knows that even Dems. in NM are gun toters.
Next couple of years should be interesting politically speaking. Although he denies it and has refrained from offers from recent candidates, he has his eye on the big one. Making all the correct moves and working hard for national exposure. Lots of folk remember him from being UN Amnbassador and Energy Secretary. There are even a few here on THR that are making presidential noises for him.

SMLE,
That is not true. Check your history :neener:

I believe if you look hard enough you will find that some have made Pope without ever being ordained.

I just got an email from the NRA. The gov went to Whittington Center and signed the bill.

"On April 6, New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (D) signed House Bill 641, the Right-to-Carry Reform Bill, into law while visiting the NRA Whittington Center in Raton. This NRA-backed legislation improves New Mexico's existing Right-to-Carry laws and expands access to licenses by more law-abiding New Mexicans.

New Mexico's Right-to-Carry Reform Bill reduces the minimum age for permit applicants from 25 to 21, which will expand licensing opportunities to law-abiding gun owners previously prohibited from obtaining a Right-to-Carry license.

The bill also increases the lifespan of the license from two to four years. Additionally, it allows the Department of Public Safety to enter into reciprocal agreements with other Right-to-Carry states."

I was referring to "modern" times of course. Celibacy is a must but, IIRC, "any" non-married male Catholic could theoretically become Pope. I wonder if I have time to convert before the conclave begins? :neener:
