Anyone know the cheap knives that are usually sold in pawn shops and flea markets that come in different sizes and shapes and are sold in a green box, I think with an eagle on it? They're great for opening boxes and stuff as they come in handy in restatraunt work. They're good throwaway knives. Any help finding them online is appreciated.

Try ebay, they may be the imported ones from China that show up at flea markets. Then, there's Smokey Mountain Knifeworks, and the home buying network. Good luck.

The box is green with an eagle. The knives are folders. The grips is black, usually has a vclip on it, the blade has a thumb opening tab to push on. The blade shape is offered in several shapes and length. That's about all I know.

Maybe you are asking the wrong question? Are you looking for a cheap knife to destroy cutting up boxes, with an accidental encounter with a staple, or maybe a bump into a metal tabletop or something? I asked here for a knife I could not destroy, not really expecting an answer, and I got an excellent answer. It is called superknife. Walmart has them for 8.99 under the brand name Sheffield, Harbor Freight has them for 3.99, with no brand name. Do yourself a favor, and try one.

Huh, if they are those serrated Spyderco copies, I have one of those right now on my desk. Use it as a utility knife and often too. I got it free from some internet/mail order place, can't definitely recall but I think it was Sportsman's Guide or Cheaper than Dirt. Only concerns about the knife are the plastic belt clip which could potentially break off and the thumb studs which appear to be super-glued on. But for the price (free), I'm not going to complain.

This is a smaller version of it from Sportsman's Guide but with a thumb hole instead of a studs and no eagle.

I think the knives you are looking for are called "Flying Falcon" from Frost Cutlery. I have one or two that I use as box cutters. They are cheap-cheap-cheap but can be useful.

Frost was giving these away at this years SHOT show.

I had gotten a knife catalog in the mail a while back that sold them by the plastic jar full. About 20 knives for maybe $15. I think these are big money makers for stores.

The last time I saw some for sale was at a Black & Decker outlet store. They had one of the plastic jars near the register and they were selling the knives for $2.50 each, I think.

If you search on the web or on eBay I'm sure you can find some without too much trouble. Try not to pay too much for them!

Disgusting ripoffs. Buy them and put money in the pockets of con men.

Seriously, if you want a few of those to beat around, watch Home Shopping Network and wait for them to sell 67 of them for $23.99. They're worth every penny.

I'm going to go against the grain, I guess. I personally would recommend buying a decent utility knife. You can buy them $10 or so. A pack of blades costs a few bucks. You can replace the blade whenever it gets dull. And utility knives are designed with a short sharp blade at a good angle for cutting boxes. I bought a Stanley utility knife while I was working at McDonalds after using a Swiss Army knife and a box cutter (cheap little things that look like a stick of gum). I used my utility knife to death and have since bought another one. I think they are the cat's meow for cutting down boxes.

I prefer the all-metal yellow Stanley knives with the rubber inserts and NOTHING else. No auto open, auto close, quick change blades or any of that other crap. You can get on for $10 easy, like I said. If you are forgetful, a cheap utility knife can be had for the same price as one of those folders. Having used a number of knives one boxes I wouldn't get rid of my utility knife for the world.

Every army/navy store I've ever been in has them, or you can get little crappy knives in the camping section of Walmart.
