It isn't mine, its for someone else.....He said its Italian and from WW II. If anyone could provide a little info on it and what it might be worth (if anything), that would be great.
Thanks

Nice photo, that. What you've got is a Steyr 1909, made in both Austria and Belgium. The Austrian make is of much better quality than the Belgium one. The pistol was designed by the firm of N. Pieper in Belgium and was a joint effort with Steyr.
A modified version was made by Steyr in 1934, marketed under the name Steyr-Solothurn.
All that info, and more, is from the 'Book of Pistols and Revolvers' by W. H. Smith and if you ever see a copy of this book, buy it. Great stuff therein.

and no, it ain't Italian but it could well have been carried by an Italian soldier in WW-II. It's a nice example of a WW-II "bring-back" and I hope it stays in the family of the soldier who brought it back.

It's a Steyr M1909 pocket pistol, made in Austria; at least some of these were issued for "dress" sidearms and secondary troops up until the Second War, but how it got to Italy (?) who knows. Don't know what it's worth, though.

Thanks a bunch folks, this is what made TFL great......quick responses to fairly obscure questions. All that greatness (or most of it anyway) definitely found its way here.
How he got Italian I don't, I know Steyrs are generally produced in Austria.
Its a neat looking gun.
