I just saw the preview for 60 min for tonight. I seem to be a anti 50 bmg rifle article. They stated it could kill from a mile away and that osama bought a lot of them from the usa. :fire:

Ed Bradley, like Dan Rather, has a real problem sorting out small truths from the BIG lies being put forth by the anti-gun crowd. The statment about "M-16's like the American troops carried" being bought at gunshows/gunshops really got me. One of theses days CBS news needs to learn how to check facts before putting them in a story. Or at least be honest enough to to say they are made up fiction, and not really news.

To counter this kind of propaganda, I like to make extra donations to the NRA.

IIRC back in the 80's when they were fighting the Soviets we gave them anti-aircraft missles. Now correct me if I am wrong, but I think a Stinger missle would be more likely to cause serious damage in a terrorist attack than a .50 caliber rifle.

I've heard CBS is short for Columbia Broadcasting System, but to me it stands for Complete B***S***.

The best part of that little "report" was when the guy they were interviewing said (paraphrased): "in this country, you can buy everything you need to equip a small army!"

To which my response was: Exactly.

It's also funny that, though they pointed out that the only way for him to get enough of the dreaded "kill a man from a mile away, take down an airplane" .50 caliber rifles to his guerilla force was to break a variety of laws, they didn't draw the natural conclusion that, therefore, more laws won't help.

This "report" was nothing more than prepping the populace, commonly known as greasing the skids. They covered all the important bases - 50 caliber killer rifles; national gun registry; gun shows and gun shops and the very important ammo loophole. I hadn't seem them spend so much air time on how easy it is to buy ammo in any of their other gun segments. The only thing that would have made this report better is if they'd inserted subliminal images of Dan Rather every 100 frames.
If they can air something like this every few weeks for a couple of years we'll have new gun legislation. While we on this forum might not like this type of "reporting" - it does sell in well in living rooms across the Nation.

I heard CBS News was bought out by The Enquirer!!! Their new slogan is: "News for Simple Minded People" :p

What is "60 Minutes"?
I remember a show by that same name about twenty years ago. Had a bunch of senile old people, Morley Safer and Ed Bradley and Mike Wallace. But they all must be long dead and buried by now.

Oh and the Andy Rooney idiot, whining and whining and whining. They were all on some outfit called CBS which I assume has been shut down for total irrelevancy.

Or am I missing something?

I would like to see a sharpshooter try to hit a target, the size of an aircraft, a mile away traveling at more than 100 MPH.

If they tried to do at 1/4 mile, I think they would still miss.

Here's a link to the web article: 60 Minutes Story (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/18/60minutes/main681562.shtml) .

It doesn't sound like Florin Krasniqi is in jail - strange.

He states and they (CBS) allow the implication that you can buy an M16 in a gun store - strange.

"Anything you need to run a small guerrilla army, you can buy here in America," says Krasniqi. "You have all the guns you need here to fight a war. M-16s. That's what the U.S. soldiers carry in Iraq. All the rifles which U.S. soldiers use in every war, you can buy them in a gun store or a gun show."

Another one - You can buy AP ammo legally.

And, he says there are a variety of choices for ammunition, which is easy to get as well. "Armor-piercing bullets, tracing bullets," says Krasniqi. "[Ammunition] is easier than the rifles themselves. For the ammunition, you don't have to show a driver’s license or anything."

Its obvious that CBS is still at it. The problem is that more people will let them get away with anti-gun propaganda than anti-Bush propaganda.
