Montgomery County and federal authorities are looking for machine guns, silencers and semiautomatic pistols apparently stolen from a Woodlands firearms dealer last week, officials said.

"The most important thing is to get these firearms off the street," said Franceska Perot, public information officer for the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,
Firearms and Explosives.

Missing are five machine guns, 17 silencers and two semiautomatic pistols, valued at $20,000.

The dealer discovered the firearms missing on the morning of March 16. He went out to his Hummer parked in the driveway to go to a shooting range to fire the guns, Perot said.

The previous night, he had left them in a box in the back of the vehicle. Perot said the dealer said he locked the vehicle but that there was no evidence of forced entry.

I am trying to get more information about this.

If the incident is as it is being reported, it doesn't seem like a very smart thing to have done.

If they want an arsenal, I know a few people that have collections that would qualify.

Hmm. Five MGs for a range trip I can understand, but why would he take 17 silencers? :scrutiny:

Five uzis, each with a .22, 9mm, and .45 conversion. A silencer for each. Plus the two pistols. Equals 17. Makes PERFECT sense to me

Not I. I doubt I'd do that even if I owned millions of dollars' worth of guns.

Down Cynicism, Down Skepticism, Down Suspicion!

Nope, can't keep it down. It just sounds fishy to my old, curmudgeonly, skeptical, cynical Self.

Is this similar to the boating accident? :scrutiny:

Yeah, How about getting them back to their rightful owner? Is this at all on your list of things to do? Quit strutting in front of the camers and get to work doing something productive. Kitten stomping weasels! :fire:

Either an insurance scam or he has sold them to someone who didn't want a trail or for cash he didn't report and now has to get his inventory in agreement with his paperwork.

The MOST important thing is not to get them off the streets, but to ban civillian posession of these things!
When criminals get their weapons by stealing, its time to tighten the grip on you and me.

5 machine guns, 17 silencers and 2 pistols for $20K? Seems a bit low to me. Is Jennings in the Class III market now?

the worst thing of all is that this idjiot isn't but 30 minutes away from me...and I fear that 308win has hit the nail on the head...undocumented movement of some class 3 bang bangs... morons like that give the lefties all the ammo they need. :(

AND..if it were a simple mistake of him leaving his stash in his truck overnight...then he gets what he deserves and needs to have his license yanked for Darwins sake....

The 5 machineguns were pre/post 86 dealer samples which would indicate the low value.

I wont even leave a makarov in the car, let alone my subgun. they come to the range, and then they come right home for a breakfree bath, I dont even like stopping for gas when I have them in my car.
