Hollywood, sabotage from within?

:what: My students here are facinated by guns. One of them (3rd grader) said to me, "I want an AK 47, so if someone rubs me up the wrong side, I'll bust a cap in his..." :what:
I was horrified and asked where he learned this. He gave me a list of (unfortunately) mostly gang-related movies...
So... I've been wondering; do you think Hollywood is doing this on purpose? I mean the sensationalization of guns and killing, and then being outright against it; saying how people are monsters (those they have made into monsters)..
Seems like sabotage from within to me...

No. They want to make money. That is foremost. Then they want to redeem themselves by claiming to be morally superior.

I think movies play a big part in what guns I want purchase.
Got a stainless steel 1911 after watching Pulp Fiction.
Got a SigPro after catching a glimpse of it in The Bourne Identity.
Looking at a Walther P99... ofcourse, the Bond factor.
If what you're accusing hollywood of is inspiring kids to commit gun related crime, I don't think they can have a big impact on that. Sure movies can pique an interest in guns, but there has to be something else there in the person that makes them a criminal. So hollywood won't succeed in this fiendish plot.

How many bad guys have a Desert Eagle?
I never wanted one, even before they were carried by "Matrix" agents...

I definitely want a Desert Eagle after watching Bullet Tooth Tony slinging that huge chunk of metal around. I think the DE deserves more for being Arnold's gun though.

Whatever the extent of sensationalist depravity one movie presents, the next one will try to exceed it. So what do we expect...?

Hollywood is all about money and hypocrisy. Nothing more.
Got a stainless steel 1911 after watching Pulp FictionOff topic but was that the one that Jules called "Mr. 9mm" when he was pointing it across the table at Pumpkin? I guess "Mr. 9mm" sounded cooler than "Mr. 45".

They've been doing it for years, along with the news media.
When you spin things enough, people have no idea what is correct. They are then malleable and amenable to some pretty deleterious and crackpot ideas.
Think of all the Oliver Stone movies that pass off concocted conspiracies as fact. Jim Garrison was/is a despicable scumbag, yet Stone made a hero out of him for harassing Clay Shaw.

have always been guilty of this. Also guilty of ratings, money and egos.
Difference is the culture and the raising of kids. Oh we played cowboys and indians, war, you name it...We were raised with firearms and safety. Point a finger, imply, or speak of using a gun (cap pistol, bow and arrow, pocket knife...) at someone, and 1) you get a belt or switch, and 2) your toys were taken away for a while.

TheOtherOne's right about Jules's 9mm quote. Unless, that is, they have the 1911 chambered in 9mm, but why in the world would anyone do that?
Being hit men, I'm sure they would recognize the aspects of the .45 that outperform the 9mm for their line of work.
Pulp Fiction is full of inconsistencies though.
Can anyone tell me the model of Smith used in Resevoir Dogs? I'm pretty sure they're 5906s but later in the movie they refer to Mr. Blond being filled with .45 slugs. It may just not be worth it to overanalyze movies...

Wasn't the DE initially made famous by that aryan biker dirtbag in Another 48hrs? He sure messed up ol Nick Nolte in that diner.

My fondest memory of a Desert Eagle is at the range, someone next to me had one, in a .50AE, and let me try a shot. The muzzle blast looked like it was 6 feet long!
Someone said "what a great ccw gun!" had laughs and yucks at the range. Those were the days... Now at the range, people walk around with Senate Bills et.. and petitions to sign.... oh how the senate has ruined the range experience...

sabotage? naah... they just know that fulfilling the juvenile dream of "Actions without Consequences" sells tickets. Be it violence, be it sex, be it property crime.... don't matter.
Occam's razor darlin'... never look for conspiracy when incompetence will explain something equally well.
