I am looking at buy a used Smith and Wesson 4506 or a 4566. Both are the same price ($380), excellent condition, and have night sight. I have no idea about the track record either model has, whether they are known as good or junk. So I am asking for your help in this. All of your input is valuable to me. Thanks for your time.

Recent past owned and shot in competetion both the 4506 and 4566. Owned two 4566, one as a back up. Fired approx 55K thru one 4566 and S&W rebuilt it when frame developed a small crack. Both are good reliable, and accurate handguns and still covered by S&W warranty. Been seeing them advertised at $329, but by time all's said and done 380 not bad monies. Using S&W 1911's now, as soon as S&W indicated that they were making a 1911, had to have three. Knew that if S&W could build guns as good as 4506/4566, that their 1911 would be tops, and are.

Having owned and attempted to carry a 4506 and owned and carried a 1066 (same size as the 4566), I can tell you that the 4566 will be a heck of a lot easier to conceal should the need arise.

If you plan to carry it, get the 4566. Otherwise get thr 4506.
