One of the critters that I am most intrested in hunting (beside Coyotes :D ) is feral hogs. I know we have a problem up here in Oregon with them, and I would love to have some fresh bacon in the fridge.
I have only 2 rifles, a CETME and an SKS. Both are 100% reliable, and the CETME is very accurate.
I know that for most (maybe all) hunting Oregon requires that you use <5 round magazines.
Does anyone know if you are able to use >5rnd mags for feral hog hunting?
Thanks.

I'd like to know that myself. I have several milsurps that need field testing. I think a Hungarian M44 using 180 or 200gr ammo with bayonet extended should work quite nicely. Have to go to the store tomorrow and see if the info is in the game regulation book.

Zeke,
If you find out, I would love to know.
Even better, if you know a place to go, and would like to help a new hunter with his first hunt, that would be great too. ;)

Hello Campers!
Straight from the 2005 Oregon Big Game Regulations page 35
"Feral swine are a non-native introduced species in Oregon that have negative impacts on native wildlife and habitats. Feral swine are included in the Oregon Invasive Species Council's list of "100 Most Dangerous Invaders" to keep out of Oregon. It is very important to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Oregon Department of Agriculture to eliminate this non-native species before they become established.
Feral swine, as defined by statue (ORS 610.002) and the Oregon Department of Agriculture (OAR 603-010-0055) are now classified as a "predatory animal". It is legal to hunt feral swine on public land with a general hunting license. Hunting feral swine on private land does not require a general hunting license, but you must first gain landowner permission."
Doesn't say anything about the usual 5 round limit in hunting rifles. Doesn't matter, A Hungarian M44 with bayo out and really heavy bullets should do fine on a piggie.
Time to go blast some piggies.
Where to look? In all my years here in Monsoon Central I have never seen a feral pig in Oregon
