Sights for the Springfield GI

I recently purchased a parked Springfield GI and really enjoy shooting it though the sights leave a little to be desired. When I first purchased it I liked the idea of having GI sights but after taking it to the range I feel I need more high profile sights. I wanted to find out if the front sight is part of the slide or is it pinned in place? I also need recommendations for a rear sight that will fit the existing dovetail. I would prefer to install three dot sights if possible.

Your front sight is staked in. King's has a variety of styles that will drop in. You need to specify that you want the .082" front tenon size. http://www.kingsgunworks.com/newcatalog/page02.html

If you prefer 3-Dot, the Kings Hardball sights that Seraph mentioned are a solid off the shelf fit with the medium tenon he suggested. With a staking tool, it's a DIY project. It's also a quick and inexpensive swap for your local gunsmith.

You can do it yourself. The kings are great. Thats what I put on my GI. It will change the point of aim from six o'clock to point of aim.
