Had a great exerience today. Met up with the father-in-law, brother-in-law and 1 nephew for a preserve quail hunt.
We'd talked abuot toyed with discussed etc. doing it for a year or so.
Long story short. It was grand fun!!
The birds were FLYERS with few exceptions. The dogs were outstanding, especially a setter named Prince. Bird finding machine!!
The overall experience was 95 % percent of a GOOD wid bird hunt.
The birds had been out for several weeks and were nervous, skittish and flushed flew like they had jato units up their tails.
The 4 of us hunted a half day and bagged 60 birds. And missed more than our share. Cost was reasonable and the hospitality excellent.
I'm going back for a phesant shoot in 2 weeks. A tower shootwhere the birds are launched from an elevated platform. Should be great fun and great wingshooting practice.
I will, of course, brag about my successes with my favorite Model 12!
Everyone have a good Easter!

Just made my day, thank you.

Quail, good dogs, a favorite shotgun , good friends to hunt with ...

I even enjoy going out and NOT pulling the trigger, just toting the shotgun, watching the dogs and as Grandpa Ruark put it Respecting the Quail ;)

Sparky,
What preserve did you hunt? I've hit a few here in AL. with mixed results. Glad to hear you had some good flyers, and most importantly a great hunt.
