Hello,

For those of you interested, I'm awaiting word from Sabre Defence (Euro Spellin') on their recent Shotgun News ad stating that they will be importing the Australian Int'l Arms No.4 Mk.4 Enfield-pattern rifles. Hopefully they'll pick up the ball that Tristar dropped, and bring some 7.62 NATO-chambered Enfield rifles to our shores here in the U.S.

I'll keep you updated. Hopefully there's some light at the end of the tunnel, and it's not a train.

Best,
John Bear Ross

Weren't all of the 7.62 nato rifle built in India? Or were some Nato rifles made elsewhere?

I continue to kick myself for not getting a few Ishapors when they were 80 bucks a rifle.

These are new ones, if I had the cash, I might just do it.

But yeah, as for milsurp, I believe only India had 7.62 Enfields. I got one a few months back for $100, they are still around.

Where? I love my Mosins, but a MilSurp, C&R, 10 round mag in 308 just has this irresistable attraction..... :)

Huzzah and kudos! I want one of those AIA Enfields so bad I can taste it. Mmm, delicious .308 Enfield-esque goodness. As I recall, they were in the realm of about 500-700 bucks each, right?

I had the chance to check out an Australian Enfield in 7.62x39. LOVED the rifle, just couldn't go for it in that caliber. Seemed like a solid, well-built piece made to contemporary standards-that is, better than the wartime Enfields probably were when first made.

A .308 would be awesome...

A .308 enfield would be awesome. You know, in the short time i've been here this website has really made my love for guns an addiction. I'm going to be so broke :banghead:

Hope they come out soon. They are going for more like $1000 according to the Tristar Catalog. A brad new Enfield in .308 (which uses m14 mags) and has a natch grade barrel! Got to have one!! Be a great battle and hunting rifle.

Well, if Tristar (http://www.tristarsportingarms.com/m10rifles.htm) quit imprting them try S.I.A. (http://www.specialinterestarms.com/#Enfield%20K) as they seem to have the one in 7.62X39. I guy over at Glock Talk (http://www.glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=362679) got one and seems to really enjoy it. I would love to get one in either caliber.

India wasn't the only country to produce Enfields in 7.62 Nato. Britain and Canada did as well.

Britain made the L8, L39 and L42A1 rifles in 7.62 Nato, as well as the Enfield Envoy, Parker Hale T4 and the Enforcer (commercial versions in the Enfield action).

Canada made DCRA conversions of Longbranch No4's in .308 as match rifles.

Swingset, THAT is a beautiful piece of iron and wood. Wow.

Folks, I got an email reply to my inquiry...sounds like they just have to surmount fed.gov's red tape machine, and they can start selling through dealers.

Here's the email text...

John,
At the moment we are waiting for approval of import permits from the ATF and
State Dept, once these hurdles have been cleared we will start setting up
dealers to sell these firearms.
Please check our web site for any changes on these or any other Sabre
Products (www.sabredefence.com).

If you folks want, email this guy to keep on the pressure. The more emails of interest he gets, the more I'm sure he'll want to sell them.

When these beauties get the green-light to cross the ocean, you bet I'll start a group buy.

Best,
John Bear Ross
