An unidentified volunteer from an Arab nation runs and fires an AK-47 during combat training at a military base at an Iraqi military base on the edge of Baghdad, Iraq Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Officials at the base said Arab volunteers, who are training for a possible war against Iraq, have said they were ready for "martyrdom," a euphemism for suicide attacks. (AP Photo/David Guttenfelder)

I think this Iraqi needs to be taught how to run while retaining control of his weapon, he might shoot an American by accident while trying to surrender.

Do I see his finger on the trigger of that AK? Bad.

Gotta love that finger. He probably wants it do discharge so it's lighter when he runs away and returns with honor (still has his gun with him) when they regroup. Either that or he wants to show up with a gun and receive a bounty like General Gage use to offer our riflemen during the Siege of Boston. Gage offered $10 back in 1775-1776.

BTW, don't laugh at el gordo. We've got plenty of them ourselves and I ain't no example of razor thin either.

that doesnt really look like a "running" posture. maybe skipping? could be a tactical maneuver to make the enemy distracted by laughing at tons-of-fun skipping around the battlefield.

I thought suicide troops had bombs, not guns.

Well, I guess it doesn't matter what weapon you've got, if you point it at a US Marine. You still qualify for the suicide corps(e).

But as for fat? I'm sure behind the anonymity of our keyboards all of us are perfectly buffed triathletes and all with 5% body fat and what not, but the guy isn't even that fat. I must be imagining all of the lard butted gun nuts I see at the gun show and range.

Fox News has some video clips from the training camp, and yeap, our Pvt. Tubby is included doing his little skip-n-shoot. He only fires one shot while running towards a building along the fence. From the clips (30-60 sec at the most), I think I saw at least 4 individuals messing with their AKs, it looked like they were unjamming them.

This is a still from some live feed I just caught on the news, "Iraqis for martydom". Sure enough, the idiot is running towards a building in a training exercise being filmed for Iraqi tv. He fires off a few rounds just like you see. I can only guess that he was trying to pin down "american" soldiers on the rooftop.

Training like this will only make our job easier.

i'm only guessing,,,

that the tactic you're seeing here is designed to create lots of noise and confusion and give the illusion of a much larger force and possibly for diversion.

granted, they could have picked a somewhat more formidable looking soldier to demonstrate said tactic...

but, and this is a big but,,,is it possible we are being fed this particular image and others like it to generate these feeling that they haven't got a chance and it's going to be a turkey shoot.

the answer to this lies in the people of iraq, do they truly feel they want to be liberated by us and will welcome us into baghdad with open arms or will they consider us an invader and resist us with a long protracted guerilla war. if the latter proves true there will be no walking on cake. the strategy is to drain our treasury any way possible and the above mentioned protracted war will do just nicely for that purpose. you can not win and hold a population in it's homeland unless that population is on your side. especially when they are fanatical enough to blow themselves up so they can take out a few of you.

and that's right,,,you don't lead the fat ones so much...

Unfortunately he looks a lot like many of us keyboard commandos would, if called upon tomorrow to don a uniform and defend our country.

Right or wrong in our eyes, he is doing exactly what we would do in his circumstance..

Well maybe not the finger on the trigger!!

I keep seeing images of the Russian people digging ditches and building barricades in the face of the oncoming Nazi's

I don't equate what we are doing with the Nazis.. I support our troops 1000%.. I have a son in the Marines in Kuwait.I have every confidence that we will prevail if we go in.....

But to underestimate or belittle a man defending his country could be a costly mistake.
