Ruger revolvers - forcing cone

Has anyone fiddled around with adding something resembling a forcing cone to a Ruger revolver? Maybe a dremel tool to add just a touch of a cone to them? or is this a road I don't want to go down?

I believe that Brownell's sells special tools to cut/clean-up forcing cones. I wouldn't use a Dremel.

Exactly what are you referring to? Ruger revolvers have forcing cones. I wouldn't try to change the angle by freehanding with a dremel tool. Either use the proper tools or take it to a gunsmith unless you want to damage the barrel.

The Ruger revolvers I have do not have anything visible that resembles a forcing cone. I'm getting lead shaved off SWC's and spraying out the sides of the guns.

It is unlikely that it is defective and left the factory with a bbl minus a forcing cone. If you shoot a lot of lead bullets there might be a lead build up that needs to be cleaned. There are tools for cleaning it up and I think Brownell's has them. The forcing cone is a pretty critical and for accuracy and safety (excessive spitting) so I wouldn't mess with it besides cleaning. Having said that.... there is a hand tool for cutting forcing cones that aligns from the bore that I also think Brownells stocks. Maybe you should call the good folks at Ruger before proceeding.
