A short while back, (1999) GGs former investment manager, suspected of bilking the man of millions, attempted to have GG murdered in an underground carpark in Luxembourg by a former Legionaire armed with a rubber tile hammer! Oh, those crazy Frenchmen and their killer instincts. The investment manager was given 20 years and the attacker 17, if I read the various stories I saw correctly.

You know how the French can't seem to do anything but wave hello to a German, or even an Austrian.:D

I also heard that the incident was stopped when some Girl Scouts came by looking to sell cookies. They were armed with pocket knives and quickly subdued him. He gave no resistance, and as a sign of good will-bought three boxes of thin mints.

Brought to you by http://babelfish.altavista.com, this humorous translation from German:
An endless Story around much money, fraud and attempted murder
" Panama Charly " sits in remand
r. - we had taken up dollar millions from Luxembourg and the Haider Connexion " the connections recently still in a contribution under the title arms manufacturer " gas clay/tone Glock, around the Luxemburger getting thing university patent, which had been acquired in the middle of the 80's by Reofin, a company of the Austrian weapon dealer gas clay/tone Glock. Glock had used the Luxemburger Charles Ewert, many at that time as trustee also well-known " as " Panama Charly. It created the companies Reofin Int. in Panama and cousin Technical Engineers in Ireland for Glock. When Ewert had then as it were made over night the Austrian Glock from the owner to the minority shareholder and even for boss had become, there was controversy at the current volume. Glocks Luxemburger of lawyers went before court. Ewerts of lawyers however denied the reproaches. Glock and Ewert are still partners. Glock is exclusive manufacturer of pistols, the international sales network however belongs to both, insured ME Lutgen, Ewerts lawyer. It stressed even, Glock never a participation by university patent held. Since beginning of this week Ewert is now in remand.
Attempted murder with the rubber hammer?!
Background of the remand of Charles Ewert is an alleged attempted murder at the arms manufacturer. The former French Foreign Legionnaire Jacques Pêcheur is to have tried on 27 July 1999 to kill the Austrian in an underground parking in Luxembourg. With a rubber hammer! And allegedly on behalf of Glocks business partner Charles Ewert, which denies this suspicion however categorically.
The Luxemburger law did not continue to come in the affair first, particularly since that of the murder made suspected 69-jaehrige ex Foreign Legionnaire Pêcheur a heavy heart illness valid, so that the process long time was retarded.
Now the legal proceedings stand. The council room found at the same time, against Ewert sufficiently indications are present, which justify a warrant of arrest. It stands also in the suspicion " complicité the de tentative d'assassinat " in the case Glock. Against this proceeding of the law hearing after appointment one inserted however yesterday.
As we already reported on 14 September d.J., clearly the clash of interest was to stand around the of Luxembourg corporation university University of getting thing behind the murder affair, whereby it concerns very much money. It is reminded of the fact that Glocks Klagenfurter lawyer Johann Quendler maintained: " My mandator is its business partner at that time on larger Malversationen draufgekommen ", therefore it should have been always brought to the silence.
ME André Lutgen, disproved these accusations consistently: " Ewert had been assigned by Glock to create an international group from societies to which ensure the world-wide distribution of Glock products. " He did this. The share sales, by which Glock of the owner became that getting thing the minority shareholder, were necessary.
We remind also of the political background. Glock, which on the same day, on which he had got blow in the underground parking on the head, three hours after instruction to the UBS had given, 40 million dollar of Luxemburger accounts to Austria to transfer. This money was obviously never paid duty! Glock tends to accommodate its money in donations, which is for him to have made possible to go around the Fiskalbehoerden.
Glocks of tax problems solved?
Glock should get nevertheless enormous tax problems in Austria. Approximately 500 million Schilling it owes the treasury.
This tax affair had interested in particular the former Austrian Minister of Finance Grasser. It did not concern to it obviously the extent of the tax sum, to find out but primarily how the press was informed about it that 15 people of the fiscal investigation became before digit with Glock, in order by means of house search among other things to become fuendig.
The officials had striven however in vain. From a letter of Glocks lawyer Quendler follows that " the financialmeet-legal Untersuchungen(...) the responsible public prosecutor's office in accordance with paragraph 109 code of criminal procedure adjusted is ". This paragraph 109 orders that a procedure can be stopped, if the applicant of the opinion is that the proofs are not sufficient. Applicant in this tax affair was the public prosecutor's office, which is instruction-bound in the alpine republic. Thus dependent on Minister of Justice Boehmdorfer, also a faithful of the party of the Joerg Haider, for which weapon manufacturer Glock very close stands. Haider obtained finally that the affair from the capital Vienna was shifted to Kaernten.
ME Kronshagen, one the Luxemburger of lawyers of the Mr. Glock, whom we addressed yesterday on the tax affair, meant however, the things would stand " completely well ". It is evenly not everything as it always in the newspapers stands. Glock has to by the way hide nothing.
