I know Browning use to make the BPR, and Remington does, who else does? I mean in a large centerfire caliber.

Remington 7600 was made in .35 Whelan for a while...
If you are really lucky, you can find one.

I have a Remington 760 Game Master in 30.06. It has been a great Deer gun for many years.

I REALLY want a timberwolf! In 357Mag, that simplifies the logistics..
Anybody know why they discontinued the BPR?

PAR1 or PAR3: California-legal AK-47 variants, 7.62x39 or 5.56x45mm. Shown without magazine. About $400. Legal because they are pump action not semi-automatic. These are pretty hard to find. Try looking on gunbroker or other auctions, or in Shotgun News. Not sure on the quality or anything else about these. Accepts standard AK mags. Probably not modifiable into the real thing, but this is unkown. If it is similar enough to the real thing, this could be construed as one of the AK "series," and thereby an assault weapon. Probably *not* CA-legal, but they are often at gun shows.

Colt used to make a slide-action carbine. Now if we can just convince the new management to bring it back; I don't want to shoot great-greatgranddad's. With the popularity of SASS and Reehaw!-Action Shooting you think that the market would be there.
Oh, wait, that might make money! We can't have any gun company make money now can we?

American Western Arms (AWA) makes a reproduction of the Colt Lightning pump rifle mostly for CAS. Their website at awaguns.com has more. Unfortunately the action on these is fairly fragile, so they don't make a .357 lightning which is what most self defense folks want.

Isn't there a pump in pistol calibers available from one of the South American manufacturers? The name "Puma" comes to mind.

I've always wanted an IMI Timberwolf, but I've heard that the stocks have a tendancy to break. Those were some of the handiest little rifles I've ever seen.

Rossi "Puma" guns are winchester 1892 lever action clones. I believe the Puma brand specifically refers to the guns important by Legacy Sports International (LSI). Those are the ones with the nasty safeties on them.

Thanks for the correction. I was having a senior moment, I guess.
I believe that there was another pump other the the IMI Timberwolf out there for a while, but I can't remember who made it.

There's a Timberwolf on www.gunbroker.com . Only about 20min left on the auction, but no one has bid yet. Price seems a little high, but I don't know.

What about the older Remington rifles?
That'd be the Model 14 or the Model 141 Gamemaster, I believe. These came in the WCF or "dash" cartridges like the .44-40 and it's related family. But more in your directione, meaning full-power centerfire, I think Remington chambered their whole series of Rimless rounds in these guns.
We're talking about the .25, .30, .32, and .35 Remington rounds originally released in the Model-8 self-loader in 1906. These have a case that basically duplicates the .30-30 WCF case without a rim, both in case capacity and performance. All of these are obsolet, now, with the exception of the .35, which has been preserved by the T/C Contender.
I think it's a 9mm bullet, going 2150 in 180- or 200-grain bullets, and about 1950 with 250's.
I think I've seen 141's (Usually tired ones, with grey finish.) on tables for $200-$300, with the lesser orices goint to the less ammo-available gun.
I've never run one of these, so I know very little about how they run or what their locking system is. It IS, as I understand it, a John Moses Browning design. has a tubular magazine up through the center of the pumb handle, like a shotgun.

Pic from Remington (http://www.remington.com). Reminton made some 126,000 of these between 1913 and 1934. They exist, but are not easily found.

What makes the Timberwolfs so great is that they shoot 357Maggies, and so you can carry that and your revolver, and have only 1 ammo.
New Stock is fairly cheap..

To be "logistical", shouldn't you keep multiple fresh buttstocks on hand?

Suppose your revolver is in .44 Magnum or .45 ACP?

then you would want a different pump-rifle
Oh, sorry.........there 'aint any!!

Tamara, Timberwolf made pumps in .357Mag as well as .44Mag.
If I go "big revolver", then I might go .44Mag everything. Sidearm, Rifle, even maybe a Ruger .44Mag bolt...
Nope, being logistical doesn't keep me from having extra buttstocks.. If buttstocks are a problem, I'll keep extras on hand...

If you are worried about the butt-stock breaking on your Timberwolf.............just have one 'made' out of someting stronger using your origional as a sample. A plywood or laminated material is your best bet. It's easy for someone with the right tools, but a little expensive to have done!!
There is a great example of this same problem in the past that some of you Russian SKS owners have an example of. That laminated stock was only installed on arsenal overhauled rifles.
As for a .44mag Timberwolf. Yes, I know they exist but are much harder to find that the .357 verson and it took me almost 10 years to one of those! A shorty lever .44mag will have to do.
