Heavy Weather Bullseye Match.....

I thought for sure it would have been cancelled. The winds are howling with gusts clocking in around 35 MPH, mist to drizzle to showers, back to drizzle. The target stands were blowing over, my shooting table blew over..(luckly I have my S&W 617 in the holster)...It was down right wet nasty weather.....

Well, we went ahead and shot the first Bullseye match of our spring '05 series...(weather be damned)....and don't I turn in the best aggragate score I ever shot.....

Must be this pair of Smith & Wesson wheel guns I'm using....
Last year when I shot these matches with a Colt Targetsman for the rimfire stages, and a 6" GP-100 for the center fire stages my best total score was 350, today's total score was 407 under adverse conditions.

These are two gun matches, with three stages per gun, so a perfect match score would only be a 600. I shoot the three rimfire stages with a 6" S&W 617, and the three center fire stages with a 6" S&W 686....(I'm the only one at our range that uses revolvers, last year I finished in second place, this year I hope to win it with wheel guns).... :D

In our indoor winter leauge we only shoot the rimfire portion but with six stages so the max is still 600. But now it is over :( the awards banquet was last night. But Duello starts officially next week, so at least there's something else to do until summer Bullseye league starts!

Similar to Bullseye as you have traditional slowfire but in place of timed and rapid fire you have duelist, which is a different target altogether, it is a lot bigger. As with timed and rapid fire it is timed and the targets turn away from you, but with duelist you start with your gun in hand rested on the bench infront of you(if no bench your arm must be at 45 degree angle) when the target faces you you have 3 sec. to raise and fire before the target turns away from you, you must return your gun hand back to the bench immediatey because it only turns away for 3 seconds, and repeats that way for a five shot string, then you load 5 more and do it again for a total of 30 shots in the same target. It is a real kick! there is 2- 10 shot strings of slowfire then your duelist for a total of 500 possible points. I hope that I answered you question without any confusion. If I didn't let me know!

Good answer I understand it Now I have to think how to try it at our club. We do not have turning targets.
Our summer activity for indoor Bullseye gallery style matches is to run a handicap match. Shooter selects the number of points needed to make the score total 300 this is added to total fired score closet to 300 is the winner. Every fired point over the 300 results in 2 point deduction from total.
