Have you sent a few $ in to help upgrade our server?

April 5, 2005, 09:17 PM
I just wanted to get a thread going to encourage everyone to chip in on the request that Oleg (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=133207) has made for some help in getting us over to a new server. I have spent many hours here enjoying all that this great site has to offer. I think the least that us members can do is chip in a little to get us to the new server.

So my challenge to eveyone here is to get our your wallet and send them some cash to help us move. I am sending in $10 via paypal. If we can get 500 people to send in $10 this thing will be all taken care of.

If you feel like it Post if you donated and how much.

You can contribute by Paypal (derek@zeanah.com) or by mail

You know, I've never done this sort of thing for an online entity before.
I guess that means this is a perfect time to start! :)

I really couldn't think of many better ways to spend the money (aside from gas for the car, stupid oil prices... :cuss: ).

April 5, 2005, 11:06 PM
I'm going to send some money :)
Thanks for posting this by the way, I never would have noticed it (I always skip over the stickies  )

I'm also going to put a link to that in my sig. :)

I will in the morning!

April 5, 2005, 11:07 PM
Yep, I sent enough to take 4 people off of your $10 list. ;)

April 5, 2005, 11:25 PM
Help is on the way.

April 5, 2005, 11:33 PM
This is one of those times where I really wish I were filthy rich so you could just breathe life into something as important as THR.

April 6, 2005, 12:30 AM
Thanks for posting this by the way, I never would have noticed it (I always skip over the stickies)Ditto. For some reason, in my brain, pinned topics on any forum automatically get skipped over.

Also, any particular way we are suppose to title paypal so it's known it's for THR? I'm assuming "THR Donation" would work, but it doesn't hurt to check.

April 6, 2005, 12:50 AM
That account is used only for THR.

April 6, 2005, 12:04 PM
Check is on the way.

THR is one of the few boards that I read daily!

April 6, 2005, 05:54 PM
I sent along $35.00. I pay as much, or more, for some of my subscriptions. It's worth it to me. :D

April 6, 2005, 06:00 PM
Sent what I could.

April 6, 2005, 08:10 PM

I'm sending a check out in tomorrow's mail. :)

April 6, 2005, 08:37 PM
Ditto on the "Thanks for the thread" I didn't see stickey note either. I'll send $ in a few days.

April 6, 2005, 08:38 PM
Will paypal deduct 3% of our donated money?

April 6, 2005, 08:43 PM
"If we can get 500 people to send in $10 this thing will be all taken care of."

Or 50 people to send $100.

Or 263 people to send...you do the math.

C'mon folks, I know we have members who send $35 to the NRA every year and they don't even like the NRA. :)

FWIW, rimfirecentral asks for $20 to join and then $10 a year to renew. Cheap entertainment.

April 6, 2005, 08:52 PM
Could this thread be sticky for a while? I wouldn't have noticed it at all if someone hadn't reposted a new thread on the issue.

I think many of us would be happy to donate something...

April 6, 2005, 09:45 PM
Check will go out tomorrow. Thanks for posting the address for Derek.

Oleg, you think your mom and dad will go back to Key West again? I promised them a bottle of wine at Cafe Sole'.

Having just taken a major whomping at the Form 1040 windows, didn't have much to spare, so I dumped out my emergency ammo fund bank, and sent it off to Mr. Zeanah.

For all the info I have learned here, tips-n-tricks of the pros, and everything else, it is but a mere pittance of return. I am more than happy to do what I can to help.

April 7, 2005, 02:04 PM
Thanks for posting this; I missed the sticky.

MO went out this morning... to help those who helped me. This is the greatest bunch of folks around.

April 7, 2005, 02:11 PM
I must admit that I am also guilty of missing the sticky regarding this. I'll send a check for $1,000,000, but if you need real money, I'll send a check for quite a bit less than that :D

April 7, 2005, 02:31 PM
Glad to be able to help!

April 7, 2005, 02:50 PM
PayPal donation sent. :)

April 7, 2005, 04:19 PM
Check is going out today!

Thanks to all for both sites.

April 7, 2005, 04:35 PM
Check will be in tomorrow's mail.

A good gun forum such as THR is essential to the psyche of a gun aficionado.
I want to thank all who run and support this forum, it is an important part of
my daily psychotherapy. Even though I don't post a lot, I read daily.

I can't describe how much info I have learned from this community.

As today was payday, I gave a bit back via Paypal. Not as much as I would have liked, but I've got a wedding to pay for. :)

Thanks to Derek and Oleg for letting us have a free ride for a couple years.

April 7, 2005, 07:33 PM
THR is worth more than my mag subscriptions.

April 7, 2005, 07:33 PM
My paypal account has a smaller number in it tonight. :)

April 8, 2005, 10:59 PM

April 11, 2005, 11:28 AM
I've already sent mine... (bump)

April 11, 2005, 11:48 AM
A check was placed in the mail earlier today.

April 11, 2005, 11:53 AM
My taxable income last year was $0. I still had to cut a check to the IRS. As poor as I am, if I can afford to send something, everybody can.

Mail has already gone today, but the check is in the mailbox waiting for tomorrow's pickup.

I also missed the sticky on this. Wasn't even aware of the request until I saw this thread.

We have 16,833 members I can't believe we can't make this work!!! Derek would it be possible to send a email out to all of our members?? I am sure there are a good number of members that have completely missed the posts asking for cash.

Do we have any members that work for a provider that could help us save some money on the locating costs.

Do I have to send my pal Guido after you bums?

You tell your pal Guido if he shows up at my house, he'd better have that $50 he owes me—and no cockaminy excuses this time, either!

April 14, 2005, 10:46 PM

April 18, 2005, 07:07 PM
Okay, let's see, reading the "Ghost Story" thread on the Rountable.
And learning how to kill off an invasion of ants from High Roaders.
Cool posters.
Keeping up and on top of the political scene.
Discovering Bear Coat is not where I want to send my rifle.
Cool posters.
DHart's gun photography.
Marlin vs Winchester
Cool posters
.38 vs 9mm vs .357 vs .40 vs .44 vs .45LC vs .45ACP vs .45GAP
Superb aircraft pictures

All of that and more is priceless.

Wife and I been looking for a different state to relocate to and THR has been extremely helpful. Of course I'm still here, but the wife has yet to decide on her choice.

The amount of info I have learned here on The High Road has boosted my knowledge of guns, rifles and knives tremendously.

I'm afraid the paltry amount I have sent still leaves a very large balance owed.

Thank you, thank you.
