Want to do something about the Axis of Weasels?

<<< FORWARDED MESSAGE >>>

Do you know that Airbus Industries is a consortium of the airplane manufacturing industries of FRANCE and GERMANY? It is. And every time you fly in an Airbus 300, 310, 320 or whatever operated by any airline, YOU are sending YOUR money to the Axis of Weasels.

I just called Delta Airlines and inquired as to whether the flight I was purschasing was going to be in one of those planes. It's not, so I bought. I'm sure the President of Delta, if a lot of people ask about Airbus flights, will be on the phone to the President of Airbus Industries in Toulouse, France. Do you think the President of that airplane manufacturer (one of FRANCE and GERMANY's largest economic powerhouses) has the phone number of Gerhard Schroeder and Jacques Chirac? Of course he does. The point is how do we make him call them and tell of the ECONOMIC DISASTER that will befall their nations if no American will ever again fly on an Airbus Industries planet.

If you are flying somewhere, call the airline and make sure you aren't going on an Airbus. If you aren't flying this week or on a particular airline, call anyway. Make the point that bad decisions have bad consequences. In 20 minutes, you can call 10 airlines 1-800 resevation numbers and send a message all the way to Paris and Bonn. For a free call.

Boeing's 25,000 laid-off AMERICAN workers will love you.

Airbus aircraft rattle, shake, shudder, make peculiar noises, and generally fail to inspire confidence. I don't care much for flying under the best of circumstances, but whenever possible, I board Boeings.

As a pilot I’ve never liked the way Airbus designed the fight control system. In essence the aircraft computers are programmed with limits and if you approach the edge of the envelope the aircraft will attempt to “correct” the situation, overriding the pilots inputs to do so. There have been several incidents where the aircraft didn’t do what was best (or expected) and one spectacular crash where the pilots were doing a low pass but the flight control system wouldn’t allow them to climb (it kept reducing power as they tried to go around) and put the aircraft into the woods.

Boeing on the other hand does design soft, not hard limits on their aircraft flight control software. If you get near the edge of the envelope the aircraft will say “hey, you’re getting close to edge” but it WILL NOT prevent the crew from flying the aircraft to its aerodynamic limit, thereby giving that extra edge of performance when the SHTF (aeronautically speaking, that is).

I’ll always put my faith in the airframe and the crew that’s handling the controls first. I guess you can say that Boeings are a pilots aircraft and Airbus an engineers one. From my riding in both I agree with Standing Wolf. As a pilot who’s sat in the back of quite a few… the Boeings ALWAYS handle and give a better ride than Airbus.
