When I don't just go out and find some random place in the desert or mountains to be alone, that is where I usually shoot! It's not the clearest picture but I was looking up some bigger cities and military bases and alot of them have much better quality!

My range is too rural -- they don't have any satellite images 'zoomed-in' enough to make it recognizable.

Couldn't get it to copy, picture wise, but here's the link - Tucson Mountain Park public range, 100 yards, 10 position, quiet, friendly, and sometimes empty...no gangbangers!
Never mind - computer illiterate figured it out....
The clubhouse is the building in the center; archery range to the south-west, trap to the north-west, 200 yard rifle range to the north, 50 yard range to the north-east. It used to be out in the boonies, back when it was founded. Now, things are a bit more crowded.

I'm a ****, that's my house. =(
But I don't have a range!
Closest we have is some woods we shoot at, but I'll never be able to find that...especially since the search seems broken.
How does "Daytona International Speedway" come up with a Red Roof Inn?
So all you get is my guns' storehouse.
2 50 yard plinking ranges, 100 yard tunnel range, 3 100 yard pistol berms, 200 yard rifle range, 600 yard rifle range, and Silhouette range. Also have a shotgun range and indoor 50' smallbore range.
If you zoom in, you can actually see the rails for the silhouette range, as well as the pits for the 600 yard range.
All shooting takes place to the south, if you zoom out and look north, you will see why.

This one's actually from the website of my gun club. Some of the bay descriptions have changed. Now nonmembers can use most of the IPSC bays and the first bay in that IPSC section is now open to black powder rifles and centerfire rifles as well as pistols:

Not really local, but where I go to get my 300 Yard jones, The SGVGC in Duarte, CA. Hard to tell, but that's in LA.
When I was stationed in Yuma, AZ, I went to Adair, a free 1,000 yard range. It doesn't zoom very far in, but you can see the distinctive rectangle that a kilometer of range makes on the map:
Here is the last place I qual'd before I got out of the Corps. It is the new range on East Miramar, so all the airwingers don't have to get up at 0dark30 to go to Pendleton just to get hollered at by condescending grunts.

This could be a nice tool not just for showing off your current range, but for scanning national forests for cleared areas that might make good new ranges.

After you link to the image, REFRESH your screen and then magnify it to maximum....47 acres of pistol and rifle ranges (red roofs), trap and skeet, and action shooting ranges (on the left side of the picture).
As best I can tell from exploring the images of the Raleigh area, most of the aerial stuff appears to be 2-3 years old. The images on there now show the Triangle Town Center shopping mall still under construction, and Interstate 540 only completed as far as Falls of Neuse Rd:
That would put it sometime in 2002 I believe.

I am fortunate to live within spitting distance of Ben Avery Shooting Facility:
I can't zoom it in and still get it all. It's immense.
I'm surprised, you can even see the small mounds of dirt that mark 50 and 100 yards on the 150 yard range (lower right of the park).

This is where I used to shoot, before I moved to Vermont:
Major Waldron's Sportsman's Association, in Barrington, NH. 50/100/200/300 yd. range on the right, indoor pistol range in the clubhouse (dark building left of parking lot), skeet, trap and sporting clays setups on the left.
The club owns some land across the road too, where people can hunt during hunting season.
The neat thing is that the club owns enough land to stretch the rifle range out to 1000 yards, just needs resources and a reason to do so. So there's a good bit of room for expansion.

So I will admit I am a computer dummy, how did you guys copy the pic from google to actually show it here?
This is the NYPD range, where my agency qualifies. last one on your left is Frank Range, the one we usually use. This pic has to be at least about a year old as the whole shooter area of F Range is concrete covered now. By the way, the whole complex - below the trees all the way to the point - is the NYPD Range complex. If the Olympics come to NYC, I hear we can kiss this goodbye.
Here's the range I frequent via Terraserver. It's a National Forest range and it hadn't been built at the time the image was taken, so you have to use some imagination. :p ;)
Click the link below, and once it opens, trace a line from the North & South buttons at the edge of the image. At the point where that line would intersect with a line from the West button to the East button is roughly where the range is. And yes, it's nearly in the middle of nowhere. :D

And, it is my range, invitation only. Tresspassers will be targets. :what:
The northeast smaller building is my shop and the range runs northeast from there along the driveway. Its about 110 meters to the trees. (1st image: range short.jpg)
Range long.jpg shows more of the driveway and I can get about 200 meters shooting between the trees closer to the driveway. I'll do some clearing one of these days and make a nice 200 meter range there one of these days.
Anyway, it's been one of my long time dreams to be able to shoot out the window or just step outside and shoot... :)
April 8, 2005, 07:16 PM
Jonathan, I think you and I shoot at the same range.

My range - 5 miles from home - The Mansfield Fish & Game Protective Association.
