Just picked up a Ruger MKII (blued, with the bull barrel) on my way home from work (I got a small bonus this week, and bonus=gun money!)

I was wondering if CCI stingers (and other super-high velocity .22) are safe to use in this pistol?

Thanks!

Fed a bunch of them through mine with no problems.

They should be fine in your Mk II. I can't say with absolute certainty, but I believe they might cause problems in a "competition" model since the cases are a bit longer than a standard .22LR round and the chambers in that type of pistol are generally tighter than in a non-comp pistol.

cool - thanks guys

I wanted to try a bunch of different rounds, and those are some of the most accurate in my 10/22

appreciate the responses

The CCI ammo I have used in a Ruger MKII is the Mini Mags --
Primo! It also really likes the Bricks of Federal sold at Wal*Mart.

About six months ago I bought a 22/45.

I tried a box of Stingers and was plagued with endless misfeeds, stovepipes, and the spent case not being completely pulled out, the extractor would slip off and leave the case halfway in the chamber.. My Buckmark has no problem with the same ammo and neither did a friend's Browning. The gunshop pistolsmith said the chambers in Rugers are too tight and to try another extractor with a longer spring, which I did, to no avail.

After pulling out half my hair, I called Ruger and they said not to use Stingers in any Ruger auto because of the case being longer than a regular .22lr.
