And while I usually will carry a S&W Airweight 642, I'm thinking about hardchroming my Colt Combat Commander to fit an IWB. Or, I have a S&W Model 19 snubnose that MIGHT make it into a short pants pocket, with the right holster. The hammer has been mini-bobbed. Any suggestions? Anyone else change CCW gear from winter to summer?

I am thinking about a sp 101 .357. Last year I carried a EG Makarov, didn't want to rust my pretty Kimber. My sweat must be caustic because even with care she will rust.

For summer use, go poly! Maybe a USPc 9 or 45...merely a suggestion ;)

Hard to beat a 642 for Summer carry. Why are you wanting to change?
I'm going from my 1911 to my P11, which is also hard to beat for Summer carry.

I'll still carry my 92FS or my 1911. It pretty much rains up until July 4th around here so I can still throw a light jacket over everything and get good concealment. It's only really warm (over 75 or so) for a short period of time so I usually just tough it out and wear an open, long shirt over a tucked in T-shirt - covers my piece and everybody's happy!
Hey, just realized this is my 100th post! Geez, what a lot of hot air I've been blowin' . . .

NAA Guardian 380 in a Hedley Pocket Holster . So discreet you can wear shorts and a T-shirt .:)

I carry my hard chromed Combat Commander IWB all year round. I never liked the idea of switching guns and carry modes. Mines always in the same place if I need to reach for it. If your going to go IWB, I'd suggest you go Kydex over leather, especially for summer.

Taurus PT100 during the winter months. Easier to conceal this full size fat .40 cal
Glock 19 in the summer heat of Arizona. Easier to conceal in a IWB Kydex Comp-Tac Undercover.

I have to go along with boing. What's wrong with your 642 for summer carry? If you carry it in the winter when people wear heavier clothes it should even be more effective as a summer gun. I have a 66 snub and can't imagine lugging it around in my pocket. My usual carry piece is a S&W 640 .357, winter and summer. When I can't get away with that I drop my .32 Guardian in my pocket. Best wishes, Mike

My thought re: summer carry is to carry the biggest pistol you can shoot well. For me that's the Colt. I'm also concerned that the bad economy may lead to more unemplpyment or criminal desperation, i.e. two or three people looking to car jack or mug me (& wife & daughter) instead of just one. Then 8+1 rounds of .45 ACP is more comforting than five of .38 Special +P.

Same wacky warm or cold (-9F this morning) but it's easier in winter with the Redhawks :scrutiny:

Same carry every season--summer, fall, winter, spring, humidity, tornado. Easier to program the default setting of the 'puter.

Roger that, El Tejon. I've often considered going to a Glock and the 642 just for their similar pull-and-fire operation. But I dearly love the Colt and the .45 ACP cartridge, so I make do. :)
