Does any one here use a "dedicated magazine" for a particular weapon?
By "dedicated", I mean a particular make (or model) for use in only one
weapon.

I don't understand the question. Please explain. Are you talking about using the same mag over and over?

I stick pretty much to Chip Match Grade mags.

I'm speaking of using the same magazine on different weapons. In other
words for example, I use only Wilson 47's on my Springfield. I don't use
these on other 1911 .45 ACP's. I bought 2X 47D's to use with my new
Kimber Raptor II, and proly won't use 'em with any other gun.

I prefer all my 1911 mags work in all my 1911 guns. If I find one that doesn't it gets trashed if it fails in two or more guns. If it only fails in a single gun I keep it in the mag well of one it works with -- usually the problem is not dropping free or not locking the slide back.

i stay with factory mags, i've tried after markets and they don't work as good as factory mags.

Factory mags for everything except my 1911s. For those I prefer Wilson's except for my carry gun. I like the 7 round Mec-Gars for my Kimber Pro Carry. Flush-fitting and the follower will not damage the feed ramp like the CMCs I was using in it.

The only pistol I have more than one of is Hi-Powers. Any mags that don't work in all get trashed or fixed. The only separation I make is between range and carry mags. All from each category must work in all my HPs.

My take is - all 1911 mags should work in all my 1911 styles. I only "prefer" the Full Size and Commander size guns, for this reason as well.

Then again my 1911 "preference" is the Gubmint model. Be it CCW, target, handgun hunting...everything. Shoot one gun and know it.

That said all I really used was USGI or Colt 7 rd mags forever. The Metalform 7 rds that are made like these give ME the best reliability.

That said , I lost ~ 50 USGI / Colt mags, all holsters and the / my 1911 style guns in a fire. I do have "left" the Stainless Kimber Target Series I - as this one is "off site" at another location. IIRC I have 1 USGI mag, 1CMc 7 rds, and somewhere 'maybe' is 4 Wilson 47D's somone gave me. Then again I may given these away...dunno.

I will eventually Go back to Gubmint models and the USGI / Colt / Metalform Replica mags.

I'm not a gamer. The times I have "played" I used what I CCW-ed and the CCW holsters.

I play for keeps - lest I not make it back

Dan, I don't see that it makes any difference. A 1911 mag should work in any of them. I happen to like the Wilson mag. I must admit that my dislike for Bill Wilson prevents me from purchasing any more of them.

Sorry to learn of your devastating loss there , pal. :( Was this just
recently? At any rate, I'm glad you are OK! :D Guns and equipment
can be replaced, unfortunately your life cannot. Stay safe, and May

Ala Dan -

I'm fine. This was the bulk of What guns kept off site. The couple whoms site this was - were away at the time. So the important stuff is safe , the other stuff can be replaced.

There is more to responsible firearm ownership - than firearms. ;)

I have a bunch of Military contract 7rnd mags that I use interchangeably in all my single stack 1911 platforms. I also have a few WIlsons, and a handfull of mags of unknown origin. If it works I use it.

Don't have a problem.

I use only Wilson Mags or conversions in my 1911's - I have found them to work in every 1911 I own(ed). For Other Guns I stay with Factory mags but if I ever get to buy a Sig 220 I would try the Novak mags.
