Everyone vote!!! This topic comes up every month it seems. Let's put this puppy to rest (for now) and put it on record.

I've limited them to the basic calibers (.38/.357/9mm/.45), full size guns, in the most popular models.

Since I wasn't authorized by anyone its "unofficial". Of these which would you choose?

Hmmm.....Glock 21 for me.:p

Dont want to limit myself to one.
Me either, 6 1911's, and a couple of High Powers and SIG's just in case :D

For which "SHTF" scenario are we arming? The "city riots" the country "lone scout" the one gun to do everything or one handgun/one long? Neither of my picks are on your list. My two go to handguns are a Para 16-40 with+5 pads or a S&W 629.

I think a fatal error was made here Ian. I don't see no Pre-B's up there.

So I'll just say my CZ-75 9mm type A.

I too can not limit myself to one. Kimber Pro-Carry and S&W 66 F-Comp .357.

I strained my wee brain on this one, but once again logic prevailed: KGP-141.

The final answer.

No G19 listed---so I went with the S&W .357's

Um, what about the Five_Seven from FN? That plus a P90 and a few thousand rounds of ammo? It'd work for me.

But, I voted G21. More rounds than the 1911s...:D

I like my Browning!:D Its easy to carry, easy to conceal, very very accurate, and very reliable.

I realize some might think the 9mm a great choice, but I would have magazines loaded with both 124 gr +P+ Hydra-Shocks and 100 gr +P+ soft nose loads. I can easily carry 131 rounds of ammo loaded in magazines. I would easily carry a large supply of additional ammo. The ammo is light and would allow me to carry a large supply of long gun ammo, since a rifle would be my primary weapon.

Its size and ease of carry allow me to take along all the additional accessories I would feel the situation necessitated.

Unofficially...I'd go w/ my USP 45.

Definately my Colt 1911-A1 and my Gov't .380 pocketlite as backup for when I'm reloading the .45 :)

Of course, nothing quite says F___ You like a Mossberg 590 ;)

Since you don't include highly efficient handguns like the Glock 19 and Glock 30, I'll vote for your 1911 choices and go with both the Colt and Kimber. I think most of us need a sartorial setup like Travis's in Taxi Driver to display the array.

I refuse to vote since the 40 is not on the list. For SHTF gun I will take my USPSA race gun. 20 rounds of 40 is real nice.

Something that can take a bunch of abuse and keep firing -- in 9mm. I want to be able to forage for ammo.... :neener:

Look, imagine whichever SHTF scenario you want. But THESE ARE THE GUNS YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE FROM. Okay? I know you guys and gals can find at least one that is "acceptable" from this list. There will be 2nd and 3rd place winners so don't lose hope on your favorite.

LOL! I knew I was gonna get complaints because their favorite model or caliber wasn't ......."Representin' ". Trust me your ".40/10mm/400 CorBon/.454Casull Super Gun" doesn't have a chance to win.:neener: (I'm a big fan of the .40 S&W too) But I'm trying to build some kind of consensus here.

OK, if I have to limit myself to this list I'll take a S&W 4" 357. The last 3 picks really could have been one listing they are all so close to being the same thing.

Just as Ala Dan picks his P220, I pick my Hi Power :p

(of course, I just might have a Smith tucked away somewhere;)..)

3 Gun,

I think you may be right. Just like the COLT/SA/Kimber 1911 counts as one. In turn I will consider the 3 revolvers as one choice. So for ex. as of now (2:25 PST) they have 15 votes.

Mods if you can adjust the poll please do.

I think in a true "Omega Man/The Postman/Twelve Monkeys" SHTF scenario, I'd want a Ruger Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible. It would use something like 80% of the centerfire pistol ammo I could scrounge, while keeping the mutants/punks/giant cockroaches off my back.

A .22 LR would be useful too.:D

You didn't name my "goes bang every time", reliable, accurate, tough and built like a tank bug-out piece...my Ruger P95DC, with close second the Ruger P-97DC. Third place goes to the S&W 681 and fourth to the S&W 645.

I could live with any of those, but definitely want a little gun like my J-frame or SP101 as well.

And my one and only rifle, the Winchester Trapper levergun in .357 with a 16" barrel.

I voted for the GP100 but I would also like to have the Glock 17 held in reserve just in case I kill a few JBTs that are in possession of 9mm ammo. Basically with these two hand guns, I'm able to use 9mm, .38 and .357 ammo for maximum versatility.

Of course, it'll also be nice if I could have an M-16A2 so that I'd be also to use 5.56mm ammo for medium range applications.

I fall into the "can't pick just one" camp. Have to be at least two, one .357 magnum revolver and one semi-auto for social work.

Glock 20 or Delta Elite. A 10mm bias for me. :D

Brian Williams

On the list I picked S&W 586
If I was in the middle of some deep s#!+, I would want a USMC prepped Govt Mod 1911 with a recon load out of 7 mags.

But in a SHTF or teotwawki sceniario I would get a colt woodsman, very accurate, lightweight, lotsa ammo in a small box, deadly in the right hands, quiet and low maintainence.

Back this puppy up with a ruger 10-22 with a folding stock, Harris bipod and an extra suppressed barrel and a couple of 50 round mags.

Dont want to limit myself to one.

Kahr carrier - Do you have your Chow Yun Fat two-handed shooting techniques down?:D

.45 ACP in plastic or all steel for me. Maybe one in each hand.:)

If I've got to scrounge for 9mm, I figure I'll find a 9mm gun along the way too.

Whoa -- back up...what Perfessr said. In true SHTF online logic, I'd want a .22 lr bull barrel pistol w/ scope. Significantly more usefulness and ammo packability for long-term survival.

Best of both worlds - .45 for self defense and .22 for hunting. I guess the NRA Bullseye folks got it right!
