Oh man....I might have to do a 1911 if the price is right. I was considering a Kimber but $650 for "once in a blue moon gun" was a little high. I wonder what these will go for?

Man, they make everything don't they? I have never seen such a diverse gun company when it comes to handguns. Good for them!

Thanks for the link.

When is Taurus going to release that single action I've heard about?

Their catalog lists page 16 for their 1911 type pistol.

All I found on that page were the .25 & .32 cal Beretta tip up barrel type pistols. :(

41mag,

Look on page 18. Or just do a search in Acrobat for "1911".

The index saying pg 16 is a typo, the 1911's are on pg 18, they look pretty good.

All the Taurus "bulldogs" -- the big-bore snubby revolvers in .44 Spl, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, and .41 Mag -- appear to be gone. A pity.

Which is not to say there aren't a lot of interesting guns in there.

Crownvicman, the Gaucho's (SAA clone) are starting to trickle out. I saw 2 at the last big gunshow in March. and they're nicely done and smooth... Four clicks and a transfer bar... :D

I'm anxious for them to get the Thunderbolt (Colt Lightening clone) out... and the 1911's.. and better availablity of the Gaucho's

Cool, lever action rimfires! (and .32 mag? Huh?)

It will be interesting to see if Imbel had anything to do with their 1911's... If so these could prove to be as nice as the Springers and better bang for the buck. Time will tell..

Not exactly. Look at the file again. The first two pages of the catalog are not numbered. If you look at Acrobat's page numbers the 1911 is on page 18. If you look at the page numbers of the catalog itself (printed at the bottom left) the 1911 is on page 16.

For some reason I'm unable to download the new catalog even though I do have Adobe installed.

What is the model number of the Taurus 1911 and how close does it look compared to a Colt?

I saw a pretty good picture of the Taurus 1911 in a magazine (not a review, just a little blurb) and it looks nice. I have become a HUGE fan of Taurus in recent years. I have always thought that, pound-for-pound, they made the nicest revolvers, and thier autos have come a long way, in my humble opinion. In fact, I will most likely be purchasing a 24/7 in 9mm. (I have a forum up asking for opinions on that very topic, in fact. if you have one, let me know what you think). So, by god, if this turns out too be a good gun, I will most likely buy one of these too. I have a feeling that real world prices will be closer to 550 than 600 or whatever, but from what I saw, it has all the popular bells and whistles (extended beavertail, slotted trigger, etc). i don't want to sound like a jerk, but I hope Taurus sells these hand over fist, showing companies like Baer, Wilson, Kimber (and so on) that while they are making good guns, they are charging way, way too much. Bravo to Taurus for waiting until they could make a better-than-basic gun for a reasonable price. Of course, we still need to see how it shoots......

Maybe I'm just lame however I can't get a single picture of that @$%#$ gun to appear on my computer! What am I doing wrong? This makes me a sad panda...

That looks pretty cool. I guess since it has an "internal firing pin block" that means it's a series 80 type gun. Is there any noticeable difference between "Series 70" and "Series 80" guns when shooting? IMO, the biggest mistake Taurus could make with this gun would be to make it incompatible with "standard" 1911 parts; I hope they don't use some unique design.

I'm definitely one of the many people looking to see how much this gun costs. Springfield Mil-Spec quality/price with "loaded" options would be great. How much below MSRP to Taurus handguns usually go for?

rockstar, the first thing I'd check is that you have the newest version of Acrobat. You might just have to wait a couple seconds for the pictures to load too.

I held the .32 lever gun at the NRA show. It is SOOOOOO very, very cool. tiny, short, light.
i showd it to my wife in the catalog and she says she might like it. So I think I need to buy it for her, yeah, that's right, for my wife. yeah, right.
the 1911 feels nice. The M44 is an okay gun but i still like the Redhawk better. the 24/7 fits the hand very nicely. the M444 is amazing - the 44Mag with a short, short, shot barrel.
anyway, hope this info helps
