So, my lady informs me Claire Wolfe's blog (http://www.clairewolfe.com/blog.html) says it's Buy a Gun Day, (http://aarons.cc/index.php?cat=27)
and she wants to go to Gander Mt to possibly buy one. I go along, not planning on getting anything.
Well, I run into a S&W 686-1 for $260. A 2.5 inch 686 with no internal lock? I can't pass that up, so now I have another toy! Pictures posted in order of descriptions:

686-1.

The rest of the collection, Ruger Blackhawk, GP100, SP101, S&W 19-3, and the 686 minus my S&W 65-2 4 inch, which is in the shop.

Finally, the 19-3 and 686-1.

Good price...you made out on that one. Shucks, the grips themselves are worth a bunch $$.

So did I, I got a Ruger 10/22 SS with a wood stock and a 25 round mag and have ordered online from a guy on Rimfirecentral for a butler creek folding stock and 2 - 25 round mags to make a EBR 22lr

My contribution to Buy a Gun Day was purchasing a Smith & Wesson Thunder Ranch .44 Special revolver. My dealer had managed to get in two and I got to pick which one I wanted! :)

Great purchases. I have an 10/22 that's about 25 years old. Well actually my dad has it right now. It still shoots great.
I'd love to get one of those Thunder Specials, even with the lock. I could always remove it.

Me too. 66-3 with a 3" barrel. I actually bought it a week ago, but had to wait for the permit, so picked it up yesterday.

Vertical stringing was due to rear sight being loose. Had stripped it down and cleaned it, but that was one thing I didn't check before I went to the range. Groups should be rounder and shorter next time.

Buy a Gun day?
LOL, didn't even know it, and came home with two.

Not handguns, but a Mosin Nagant 91/30, Ishevsk 1942, and an Ishevsk M44, 1945.

Two more commie converts to capitalism. :D

That's ok, you're forgiven.
I am envious though, because you're fortunate enough to live in New Mexico, one of the areas high on my list of places I'd love to live.

I had a 66 3 inch, needed some cash, and sold it. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

Bought a Colt Python, 6 inch, blued, looks to be unfired. I bought it on
April 8. Does that count?

I saw a Colt Army Special for $275 in one of the shops. Nice shape. Still thinking about it.

Thinking about how I can sneak it into the house that is. My wife tracks my guns

I contributed on to Buy a Gun day by purchasing a Kimber Pro Carry...on 4/19/2001.

What can I say? I'm ahead of the trend! :scrutiny:
