I found what looks like an arsenal rebuild 1911 for sale today. It was a Remington Rand slide on what appears (based on a 6 digit 725XXX serial number) to be a colt frame. It looks to be set up for bullseye shooting with a high front sight and a high sitting adjustable rear. All the safety checks were good, and slide motion felt very smooth with little slop in the slide. The finish is very well preserved (or redone). Asking price is $500.00. Is that a good price? I guess the question is moot, since I put it on layaway already but I just wanted to know. The other question is would a 1911 that old be a problem for use in bullseye shooting?

I dont see why not.Its how old and still going? The steel is softer than the new guns to a point but probably no big deal.
