Got a couple question regarding these pistols.

Is the CZ75B and BHP(FN) +p rated? +p+? Both are new pistols.

I remember reading on CZforum that the CZ doesn't like many bullets of 124 gr. Can anyone back this up? Is the HP weight sewnsitive as well?

Thanks guys.

I have used 115gr and 135gr in my CZs, with no difficulty. As for +p, well, I don't think my PO1 got it's NATO certification by being fragile.... :)

My CZ and my HP love my 124gr Nyclads and Gold Dots.

Most of my plinking stuff is 115gr S&B.

Practice rounds are 115gr WWB and carry ammo for my BHP is Black Hills 124gr +P with the Gold Dot JHP bullet.

I have both guns also. Except my CZ is the 85 Combat. It is funtionally the same as the 75 with more bells and whisltes. Both of mine have eaten 115-124 without a hicup. I did have some trouble with hand loads a few years back because I didn't know what I was doing. Now the factory ammo for 9's is so cheap, I have lost the will to create my own loads,

For self defense, I feel bad unless I have at least a .40 an preferably a .45. For some time time I carried a .380. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick as my Father used to say but I really feel better with .
40 or more for self defense. For plinking. Wally world and others sell the 115 gr stuff at prices too good to beat. More trouble to handload in those situations.

Hope you have better luck with your loads. Both are great guns. I think of both very highly. They are my favorites for range blasting.

If I had to shoot someone (God fordid) , I would rather have a bigger bullet.

Both pistols will definitely eat a decent amount of +P, though I personally wouldn't feed them a steady diet (nor would I with any 9mm). +P+ is a fairly nebulous concept, so it's really impossible to say. Suffice it to say that both guns are tough customers.

Quite the opposite. Some CZs actually tend to shoot better with heavier bullets.

I've never heard that HPs are weight-sensitive.

WOW I made a major typo. I meant to say the CZ didn't like bullets larger than 124 grain. Mainly the 147s.

Both my Hi-Power and my CZ-75B will digest anything I load in the magazine.
they aren't finicky, it's feed, fire and eject. It doesn't get any better than that in my book.

All CZ pistols are rated for all SAMMI and CIP spec ammo. That means official designations of +P such as 9mm +P and 45 ACP +P. AFAIK no stock factory gun is rated for the beyond spec ammo like 40 S&W +P, 9mm +P+, etc . . . That being said most can handle some but can cause function and wear issues.

Don't know first hand about the Hi-Powers but they have an excellent rep. I like the ergos of the CZs better. Somehow the HP manage to be just off enough for me to hurt my performance with them.
