I saw a Beretta 84 today in a gun shop. $480 new. It sure looked nice, with a black finish. Fit in my hand well.

Why in the world would I need this gun? I have plenty of carry guns, etc., but something about it just made me want it.

Can anyone give me some comments on this gun, good or bad?

Thanks,
Steve

I don't own one, so take this a pure hearsay, but a friend of mine does and I have shot it a few times. Beretta Mod. 84's are probably one of the nicest .380's made. Its shoots great and I didn't think the recoil was sharp at all. Very accurate, easy to shoot and pretty easy to conceal. What's not to like? I think its a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Other .380's in its class are the CZ-83 and the Sig 230/232. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Another vote for the CZ83;) And you will walk out with lots of change in your pockets:D FWIW I think it is at least as good as the Mod.84 if not better:cool:

I own and have shot both the Beretta 84 and CZ 83. Both are great guns but I give the edge to the CZ for its superior accuracy.

there is just something about a well made pistol, car, woman. Whatever "it" is; The Beretta Mod 84, or Browning BDA 380 has it in spades. Very nice pistols.:)

Beretta makes some nice guns. If it fits you, you shoot it well, the price is agreeable to you, it's a good deal and you want one, by all means, BUY IT ;)

I don't blame you for wanting the Beretta 84. I just got a Browning BDA two days ago, which is made by Beretta for FN and almost the same gun as the 84. Those little .380s are very well made, easy to tote, and amazingly accurate. Get it, you won't regret it. :)

Like lendringser, I own the BDA380 (a production twin of the 84) and it's been one of my favorite gun for over two decades!

lendringser and Alan,

How do the BDAs compare to the M84? Any pros/cons? Are the magazines interchangable?

lendringser - also, what knife is that in your photo?

Thanks again,
Steve

The BDA has a closed slide, the Beretta 84 has the traditional "trademark" open-topped Beretta slide. Also, the 84 has a frame-mounted safety, while the BDA has a slide-mounted one.

The magazines are interchangeable, even the BDA mags are Beretta-marked.

The knife in the photo is a Boker Bud Nealy MCS with cocobolo scales, a gift from a friend.

I have a Beretta 85. Single stack, better for my smallish hands, and more concealable.
I am very fond of the Nickel finish with the wood grips.
Fires everything that I have put into it without a flaw. Accuracy is very good.
Some argue that you can buy a lot more gun for the money, but if you like it, you like it. You wont be sorry.
Lest we foget the customer service at Beretta USA. Great.

Enjoy,
Bob
