Is the M1 Carbine Cuter than *ME*??

So, my friend who is überbusy with lab made squeezed in a few hours to have dinner with me. Nice girl, sweet, but not my type. Pretty good shot.

With deadlines coming up, she said she probably won't see me until July, since she'll spend most of her waking hours working on projects.

Unless I get that M1 Carbine. Then she'll *MAKE* time to go to the range with me and help me break it in. Heck, she'll even have more than a few hours set aside for me *IF* I get the M1.

Whisky Tango Foxtrot, over?!?! Is that silly little killer paintgun cuter than me?!

The M1 Carbine is definitely my type.

You, sir, are definitely not.
(Although I'm sure we could just be good friends)

Skunkabilly, let's face it. She's got a point. The reasons she'll take an M1 Carbine over you are:

1. The M1 just naturally comes to the ready position. Instantly, with no need of arrousal.

2. The carbine is housebroken, and doesn't demand dinner on time (if I'm here), on whenever the heck I get home.

3. The M1 doesn't require surgical intervention with the remote...........

4. The M1 doesn't get mad when she plays Cher................

5. The carbine doesn't suggest making roast the way his mother did it.

She's a friend and will be nothing more than one. Don't go rushing out to buy a carbine because of her. It's called MANIPULATION and while some of us enjoy being manipulated by the weaker sex (yeah, sure, who came up with that notion  ), others of us won't.

Yeah, but we are always looking for reasons to buy new guns. I'd let her manipulate you into this.

The M-1 carbine is an excellent firearm,

but this female is NOT an excellent woman.

Just walk away.

Come July,

go to a fireworks display in the park.

You'll find an eager female with bodacious ta-ta's.

Take her home and never look back.

Next question?

(If you are STILL interested in the current skank,

treat her like doggie dung.

She'll be back,

beggin' for more.

But ultimately, it's about character and purity.

That's what you have to figure out for real in the long run.

Got a name and address for this comely young lady?

"Lab"? Hmmmm, could be pre-med. Definately, get the carbine, and if the girl goes shooting with you, maybe you will find that she is not just a freind. At the very minimum, you will end up with a good gun.

This is a girl. Get a woman.

Skunk,

If this is the gal that I'm thinking, then you'd best heed Furious Style's advice.

If you don't, Wendy's gonna pWnZ up on j00.

Put this lady into the casual friendship category, and not really a close one at that.

If she were interested in you (friendship OR romance) she would make time to see you. Nobody is that busy. Either really imature, or just not interested in hanging around with you, one or the other.

And yes, the carbine is WAY cuter than you. No disrespect intended, of course.

Yes. It is.

If she's working under a heavy schedule, she's probably serious about lacking time in general. One can always make time, but it's not easy. I don't know the lady in question, so I wouldn't call her a gold digger or a manipulator. Women under a lot of stress get weird. Don't take it personally.

M1 Carbine is a nice weapon. Not my thing personally. If you want one and can afford one, buy it. If you don't want/need one, can't afford one or would only buy one to appease her, don't. Don't worry about it.

LOL ok maybe I worded it wrong. I was going to get an M1 Carbine anyway since the topic came up. I told her how it was the world's second cutest killing machine and how she'll love it. I asked her if she'd help me break it in.

She wouldn't hang out with me for a gun--she probably makes more than me and likes to shoot but wouldn't own a gun herself. (Like I said, not my type).

Duke of Lawnchair, different girl than you're thinking of. Actually I'm not sure which one you're thinking of...too many women in my life. Hahahaha NOT

Excuse me while I cuddle up with Nina and my Nikon D70 (yet to be named)

Well, Skunk, to be blunt... Yes, an M1 carbine is cuter than you. :neener:

Now, I'm not saying you're not cute or anything, but c'mon, much like that mythical pig discussed by Vincent & Jules....

I fondled three lovely M1 Carbines at a local shop this past weekend. The owner is asking $350-$425 each, depending on whether it's a G.I. or a knock-off. They ARE cute and I'm really fighting off the urge to buy one of them.

Any owners here care to chime in on why I should give in to the urge to buy one?

$425 for a GI carbine?!?! Get it now since they run $700 here.

Oh yeah, Skunky's question.

Ahem

Sorry man, but puppies and kittens aren't any cuter than a nice WWII Rockolla with good wood so you should already know the answer. :neener:

Last week I paid $695 for a GI (Saginaw) M1 Blue Sky re-import. Good clean bore but lots of wear.

$400 sounds like a deal!

And there's LOTS of accessories available too....

Can I come over and shoot it? :neener:

Skunk,

I would caress an M1 and admire its asthetic qualities, I would even put the stock to my cheek and get a feel for it.

You, well...I'd at least shake your hand.

I say get the M1 and take another girl shooting instead of her. But that's just me.

i've never seen you, but i can pretty much assure you i've never been aroused sexually by a firearm, so i guess you got a chance. i guess an animate object will beat an inanimate one any day :) i know my firearm conversations get a little onesided when i talk to them . . .

as for the girl, im not gonna say shes a skank, i think thats a bit harsh! i'd love an m1 and if you get a good shootin partner out of it, who cares, im not lookin to bed down my range buddies anyway, why should the next one be different :neener:

It could just be a matter of supply and demand...
Which is harder to come by in California these days, guys like Skunk or an M1 carbine?

April 20, 2005, 09:17 PM
In addition to what Husker1911 says. A carbine doesn't care if you have more than one, isn't really fussy about what you feed it and doesn't care if you put it away a bit dirty and don't talk to it for months.
"calculated" as in calculating? Not that it's any of my business.
